emission laws was the main if not only reason they are not in production well the emission laws plus sales numbers compared to traditional engines sales where not high enough to warrant the high r&d cost to meet new laws

Engineering explained videos are mostly fine to learn some basics on a variety of stuff but his video on rotaries titled 'why the rotary is dead' is nothing short of a joke, he adds so much BS in that one all it does is spread more untrue BS about the rotary engine, his other vids on the rotary engine are ok to learn some basics but just avoid that one hey, the rotary engine is a masterpiece of Japanese engineering proving itself time & time again since the early 70's for both performance & reliability in many forms of racing & on the street, also i'd like to add that the crap you hear about apex seals is only true of the rotary in the 60's when they were still developing the engine, in 1970 when the R100 came out the apex seal problem was a thing of the past the only reliability problems that they had since was the reliability of dumb shit owners that couldn't follow through with the basic upkeep running them without oil & coolant etc

There's a lot of guys who drive cars that used to be semi- legal and rego'd that have morphed into wild rides over the years that still get street driven. Tristan Ockers' "MINCER" is a classic example. I can't believe that up until last year he used to drive that on the street still! It runs deep into the 6's, what a mad cunt. MeBoostaS30z Australia have very strict rules on car modifications the promods or outlaw class in America would never be legal to daily street drive in Australia. But in America you guys don't have these restrictions like Australia. Hence a few Australians have built there V8 Monsters ship them to the US participat in drag week just to have that street driving experience with out the cop's impounding your ride because of modifications restrictions. You guys in America have it Good when it comes to modified street cars

Weather is usually perfect at that time of the year(it rained last year but has been perfect every other year). We had 402 rotary powered vehicles entered this weekend which set a record for this sort of event in NZ. You should do it!!!!

i love it how he says "street legal cars" because in Australia the laws are strict as fuck with adr's and all. Coming from NZ where places like PPRE build 6 rotor engines and the like where laws are far more leniant and emissions are not a concern at all says alot. I ran Mazda RX-2, RX-3, RX-4 and RX-5s from 1981 to 1990 and got out because of the noise. This was before you saw many turbos on them..........which are good mufflers. Some really sweet cars in this video.
