Excellent design. In a correct housing this could be made to create vacuum quench in the same way a tesla turbine works, with the spark gaps at the entry points into the housing a constant flow of fresh air sucking away ionised air from the gaps making the impulses extremely fast. Seriously cool. Literally. Together with strong magnetic quenching this might be the ultimate open air design.

barretta52 you are correct its already developed two nasty cracks.where it is situated it cant do any real damage to the coil.or any humans.its at the back of the coil.if it shatters its left or right debris not forwards.i know its dangerous .its actuallymade of acrylic what would you suggest would be a more suitable material........

Hi that was 7 years ago lol . About 6-8 inches , cant remember snd Its not important anyway . 8 inches would be good the speed is controlled by the light dimmer switch so the bangs per second is variable. Don't use acrylic like I did it shatters like glass . didn't know at the time . If you want it transparent polycarbonate is good it won't shatter like perspex or acrylic . Angle grinder inside that box to get the very high rpm needed 14000 rpm is good . Have fun . Have a look at my other vids you will see it completed .
