Rog....I have a rotary vice....Your presentation of applying materials to the hook with the ROTARY is the best I have seen to date....I have reviewed the videos many times and each time I pick up something new that helps...Thanks again Lou

I listened to your entomology series when I was working a northeastern territory and did a lot of driving, and now enjoying your fly tying instruction. I think you give the most detailed instruction out there and I’ve learned a lot from you - you are a great 👍 teacher. Thanks.

Thank you sir. I just received my first rotary vice in the mail today and this series of videos is going to make tomorrow (my one day off this week) a lot more productive and fun!

Congratulations, Matt, on your new vice. I'm sure you'll spend many hours enjoying tying flies with it! Sometimes it becomes so much fun tying that I almost forget about fishing them!! (almost!!)

This is a really good series on tying techniques in general. In this segment, I particularly like the tip of following the body material with the thread ( about 2 min in). I never thought to do that and agree that the bobbin cradle can be disruptive to bring into play .

Agreed. I just got my first rotary today and these vids not only showed me the versatility of it but also techniques that aren't rotary specific but just nice little tricks to know.

what type of feather was used for the hackle on the wooly bugger? nice looking fly.
@RogerFlyFishing10 жыл бұрын
Hi Vasili, I used a black hackle from a cheap India neck. For the woolly bugger, you don't need (or want) a high quality, dry fly hackle. Many fly shops sell "Woolly Bugger" hackles that are labeled as such. Some have "Woolly Bugger" saddles which should give you very nice, long hackles. If possible, look in the "cheap bin" at your local fly shop. Often you can find suitable hackles there for a Woolly Bugger or other wet flies.
