I have torqued down every insert but just about every time I start it up an insert or two fly off. What am I doing wrong?

That's frustrating. Perhaps one or two inserts weren't seated properly, or maybe the torx screws were over torqued. Usually good firm pressure with a hand screwdriver is adequate. Using genuine Shelix inserts? Best of luck with it.

Yes original inserts but I was using a 1/4 drive ratchet.@@TheThoughtfulWoodworker

@@ChefKevinRiese My guess is they were a little over torqued, or perhaps just faulty inserts. I haven't had it happen yet, and I'm running 4 tools with helical heads. Don't give up on helical heads yet!

I have purchased a shelix cutter head and it does not fit and I am having problems with the manufacturer. What is one of the more popular forums so I can get some advice?

Holbren is pretty good to deal with. If you got the full OEM diameter head, you'll have to remove the cutters first.

@@TheThoughtfulWoodworker I have Makita and 2 oem pullies do not fit shelix shaft and depth of keyway is not correct and key does not fit. I brought to attention during warranty and manufacturer will not fix.

I did this and I'm getting grooves. I bought all new blades, re-seated them about 3 times now and I get lines. Not very deep, but enough to see.

I'm sure you cleaned out the pocket with compressed air. If it's just one or two lines, you could try replacing those cutters again. Normally, you'd just have streaks or what I call "slug trails" along the length of the board. You can see them in raking light, but you can't really feel them. Also, they should sand easily away. Maybe you got a bad batch of carbide inserts? Or just a couple that are defective?
