Thanks for posting this. Goettel was a fucking genius...and it's sad that he won't be remembered as such. Am I the only one who noticed how Skinny Puppy's music jumped in quality when Goettel joined, and that both it and Download were at least halved in quality after he died?

@civ1 *nod* Eyes of Stanley Pain remains to this day one of the best electronic music albums I own....call it it techno, ambient, or industrial--it's just mind-blowing, and, most importantly of all (especially nowadays): There's simply NOTHING at all like it. I hated Eyes, Furnace, Last Rights, and TDP the first dozen times I listened to them, I won't lie. But some hook, some sound, kept me coming back---Dwayne's stuff made you want to understand the madness-and eventually, you did..

@Eldeecue No you're not the only one, although Download also lost Spybey at the same time. I wish Dwayne were still around because I liked what he and Mark did together, and there's no question that the SP albums he contributed to were the best by far. Doubting Thomas was also great.

@Eldeecue No, your not the only one who noticed, SPs work pre- and after Dwayne was good, but not LEGENDARY as with dwayne ( and also Dave "Rave' ogilvie - who was basically a fourth member left - why do you think SPs new albums don't quite have that same "magic" anymore ? that's why )

@christianzajdek I can sorta see it in regard to Aphex's earlier, more acidy stuff--but not in the sense of Dwayne _owing_ anything to RDJ--more like Aphex is just the most popular/convenient reference point for what ADuck sounds like, and ultimately there nothing wrong with that, I think. And, after all, It's not like being compared to Aphex Twin is a _bad_ thing, right? : )

@jasonmoyer Total agree about Spybey...losing both him and Goettel kind of....crippled Download. Effector was nice, though. but....the quality of Furnace and especially Stanley Pain was to never be seen again.

@rotgutshogun It's always the quiet, shy, kinda fugly little guy in the corner who is the Brain One of any given band, ain't it?

All the really kickass musicians die young while Kenny Rogers is still kicking, its a sad world sometimes.
