The best time to visit Rothenburg ob der Tauber! Without pandemic, the place is so crowded with tourists that it is completely unbearable.

Quedlinburg is very interesting if you are into very old buildings and historic construction methods of halftimbered houses. But if you just want to have a nice stroll through some halftimbered lanes, nearby Wernigerode is somehow prettier over all - even though the single houses in Wernigerode are not as old as in Quedlinburg.

Sorry to be a smart ass but the opening when you said "Rothenburg, inspired by Disney and Disney theme parks" made me laugh so hard. Rothenburg is way older then Disney! If anything, Disney took inspo from Rothenburg, but certainly not the otherway around. LOL

Nearby Dinkelsbühl also has a wonderful old historic city center, quite similar to Rothenburg, with probably one of the most impressing half timber houses (Deutsches Haus) in Germany. Also a lot of the fortification around the old city is still intact and nice to walk along with multiple parks.

True, I was just going to mention Dinkelsbühl. Nördlingen is also nice - all three are rather close to each other. The old city in Rothenburg is larger than the other ones but on the other hand you have to more or less fight your way through the hordes of tourists in Rothenburg odT.

You might want to be careful with the drone flights, unless you have special permits it’s pretty much everywhere not allowed to fly over the town. In the case of Rothenburg there’s also a hospital with a helicopter landing area (which restricts basically the eastern half of the Old Town) and to the north east a small airport for small private airplanes (it’s not relevant for drone flights in the area of the old town, but restricts the area between the Autobahn and the outskirts of Rothenburg). In the area above the river it‘s not allowed to fly as it’s classified as a natural protection area.

@markusschieche532

I wanted to say the same. You maybe don´t know, but since 2021 you need an extra Drone driver´s licence in Germany. Without it, you are not allowed to fly your small DJI drone. And even with this licence, there are still lots of strict rules where and how to fly. Like already said, its strictly forbidden in whole Germany to fly above private properties, which includes each type of city or town. So your flight above Rothenburg was not allowed and if someone calls the police, they can even keep your Drone. It´s also good to know for future visits that around many famous places in Germany its also not allowed to fly the drone, even if its outside of towns. Best example is Castle Neuschwanstein. Around the whole castle there is a Nature reserve and to fly there will be punished even harder then above towns. To get the Drone licence isn´t that hard, it took me around 4 hours and doesn´t cost anything. Behind you will find the link to the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), because the drone licence is for most states in the EU. www.easa.europa.eu/faq/116457

NotsoFunfact : you can even be fined afterwards, especially when you conveniently provide the evidence on KZbin ! Always keep in mind : Privacy Laws are pretty serious in Germany.. thats e.g. the reason that there is basicly no google streetview available.. For Drones like a MavicAir (250 g+ weight ) you even need an insurance and the drone has to have a fireproof "licence plate" Check the German Federal Aviation Office for Info : You can do an online test for a small Licence there - for free ( a bit of learning then multiple choice test ) Link : www.lba.de/DE/Betrieb/Unbemannte_Luftfahrtsysteme/Unbemannte_Luftfahrtsysteme_node.html ( there is a english version of the site.. but the info on UAV are just on the german verison so try google translate )

Beautiful video. My whole family met up in Rothenburg ob der Tauber for my grandmas 80th birthday but it was raining the whole time. And how cute is your little one. She looked like a serious food tester while trying the gelato. I don't like sauce on my breaded Schnitzel at all because the crust gets soggy. For unbreaded Schnitzel I like Jägersauce (it's a mushroom sauce). In the alps I eat my breaded Schnitzel with lingonberries because I usually go on a longer trip during the fall and that is the season for lingonberries. And if you hike all day and see the ripe berries everywhere you really crave some in the evening.

Schnitzel with potatosalad and Ketchup! Make sure to try all the different kinds of potatosalad. There are some with Mayonnaise (more common in the north of germany) and ones with vegetable broth (More common in the south). I prefer the vegetable broth kind but i am from Stuttgart so super common here. If you visit Baden-Württemberg make sure to try Maultaschen. That is a swabian specialty: Pasta dough filled with meat, spinach and all the good stuff (there are also vegetarian options)

That’s been a great day! If you have the chance go to visit Würzburg. From Weiden it takes you about two and a half hours to get there - you’ll love it too. Make sure to arrange a guided tour throughout the Residence Palace in English and don’t miss out it’s beautiful garden and baroque Hofkirche, See Marktplatz and Marienkappelle. Take a walk to the Old Bridge over the river Main and enjoy a spectacular view on Fortress Marienberg and Käppele. See Vierröhrenbrunnen and the old Town Hall (in the basement of Grafeneckart a memorial room presents a model of Würzburg after a massive air strike in WW2 - it’s well worth it). There is still more to see…

Schnitzel is one of my favorite dishes, especially when it is made by my grandma. She makes it with boiled potatoes, peas and a typical brown gravy with a little bit of egg mixed in. And of course she makes the Schnitzel herself and doesn't buy premade one.
@SuperLittleTyke
@SuperLittleTyke 3 жыл бұрын
I tried making a Schnitzel from scratch once, but it's a lot of work for only one person. Plus, you have to sacrifice one egg to get the breadcrumbs or panko to stick. Fine if you're making several of them, because the beaten egg will be enough for three. But for one only, I have a lot of egg left over and I hate wasting any food. But Lidl often has them either in the chiller cabinets or as frozen food. Not quite as good as freshly made, especially by a restaurant chef who knows what he's doing, but tasty nevertheless.

Nice to see you enjoyed that place. You were lucky to catch a sunny day these days and it wasnt to crowed. Unfortunately due to covid evrything such as museums, shop, restaurants were open. Well, you called it half timber house and I assume its also called tudor style in english and in german Fachwerkhaus. There are many towns in Germany with the old town areas Altstadt with such houses. You will enjoy Quedlinburg and other towns nearby. Freudenberg in the area of Sauerland looks also nice and additonally to this the roof tiles are most of slate and even the house facade or parts are of slate which is common for that area. If you once come along the wine area Pfalz you will see lots of old, crooked houses, wine farmer houses and it would be a nightmare for Monk to travel there. Have you seen the youtuber Nalf introducing and showing his family where he lives in Schwäbisch Hall ? Btw, I am sure that Willow will be very good aprentice when you plant your first flowers in your garden. She has the right eye whats may looking good. Thanks for letting us to join your trip.

If the drone shots are from him and he have the EU-Kompentenznachweis A1/A3 AND a Drohnen-Hafpflichtversicherung AND Aufstiegsgenehmigungen THEN there is no problem - but if not it can be really really expensive... and that is not a german law, not at all, it is a european rule that become german law

I love the real Wiener Schnitzel, very thin breaded veal with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, Preiselbeeren and roasted potatoes. And here in Munich the Münchner Schnitzel - one side with sweet mustard, one side with horseradish cream and then breaded with pretzel crumbs - DELICIOUS!

The "o" in Rothenburg is round and long, not short and open. The "u" is pronounced like the "oo" in "school", just shorter. At least you didn't pronounce the "th" like in "think", but like in "Thames".

We're going to visit Rothenburg next month as well. Interesting that you could fly your drone even above the city. Did no one complain? The regulations are quite strict and complicated that I usually only dare to fly it where only very few people are. Great shots though! Maybe I'll try it too.

I used to live there for 7 years. Have you seen Markusturm? Are the storks back? I miss them so much, lived pretty much a few meters from their nest. It’s really sad to see Rothenburg so empty. I miss living there but it would break my heart every day to see empty streets and places. Best ice cream you would get at D‘Isepp. ❤️ And your little one would probably enjoy the playground on Hornburgweg and the one on Topplerweg, they are the best...

I think the most common way to eat Schnitzel, is with french fries and without breadroll. Mostly served with just a slice of lemon to squeeze the juice on the schnitzel or with a thick mushroom sauce. By the way its super easy to make Schnitzel by yourself, you will find plenty of recipes!

About the Schnitzel: Are you aware, that there is not just 1 kind of Schnitzel? Besides the meat (poultry, pork => Schnitzel Wiener Art or veal => Wiener Schnitzel) there are "Jäger Schnitzel" (without breadcrumb coating, but with a dark mushromm souce), Cordon Bleu (filled with cheese and ham) or Münchner (Munich style) Schnitzel with horseradish under the breadcrumb. And many more...

The two major Schnitzels are probably "Zigeunerschnitzel" which has a tomato-ish bellpepper (paprika) pickle sauce and "Jägerschnitzel" which has a mushroom-cream type sauce. They are usually served with fries or wedges.

I guess you can eat a schnitzel that way, but i feel eating a schnitzel in a bun isnt the best way. it probably is tasty, but i feel like the bun will overtake a lot of the taste and some of the texture. thats why it is usually served outside of anything and instead eaten with something. there are a lot of variations, from fries to salt potatoes with vegetables and different sauces. it might be hard now, since that is how they are usually served in restaurants and they are closed at the moment, but i can just recommend you to try it.

@@OurStorytoTell if you do, i would recommend you to try the Hamburger Schnitzel or the Schnitzel Mailänder Art. the first one is basically a normal schnitzel, but it has an fried egg on it. the second one is basically a schnitzel with spaghetti and tomatosauce. where i ate that one, the spaghetti where on top of the schnitzel and had some melted cheese on it, maybe it will be different, like the spaghetti being next to the schnitzel, but i highly recommend trying a schnitzel with noodles. it is possible, that because of regional differences or other reasons, that they either have a different name or arent on the menu wherever you go to, but normally there is a description of the dishes and if they have them, the descriptions should be enough to make them out.

@@OurStorytoTell Or just plain and simple Vienna Schnitzel. (which is usually the "normal" schnitzel in the south). Which is breaded Veal from the baby cow (no sauces, beside maybe ketchup but nothing to drench the breading in). Schnitzel Vienna Style, just means that it is Pork meat, prepared the same way Vienna Schnitzel is prepared (and served)

@@sternreport maybe the region has something to do with it. i looked it up, since i couldnt remember the name anymore and i have found some similar looking stuff as well as wikipedia linking it to some italian dish (no surprise here, i mean it says mailänder art). specificly i had it at an establishment (is/ was a restaurant, but also has bowling and tennis and in winter instead of tennis ice skating), which was called tiroler stadl. as you can see from its name it has some connection with that general region of south germany, austria (and north of italy, since i hear, that that region has some close ties). i dont know, how it operates now, since the previous owner died and then also corona happened, but their dishes were general german stuff, with a mix of everything you normally find and then some specific tirol dishes in an extra menu (käsespätzle is what i got from that menu once)
