Even I was of the opinion that roti maker do not work. I purchased it long back, maybe six years back, but I never used it. The first time I used it the roti maker did not work. But luckily one month back when I saw this KZbin and used my roti maker, it changed my thoughts. The most important factor for a perfect Roti, is that we have to pull both handle and other side together and then press , we will get perfect rotis. And of course, the dough needs to be little soft but not too much. Everyone should invest in a good roti maker to make their life easier. Once you are used to eating rotis from roti maker you will not like any other rotis.

In Canada the power supply is only 120V, do you think it will work if kept for longer? Also, you said that when Green light is turned off it is ready, whereas, Prestige video says when the Green light is turned ON, then it means the RM is pre-heated and ready. What we should know is that there have been many roti makers which were not set up properly at the factory. I am referring to the temperature setting. The plastic handles and lifters would go to pieces due to poor quality, or panic usage, dropping and banging. With the gadget OFF, train yourself by making only a little dough ( 2 - 3 ) chapattis, so that you don't go into panic mode and waste electricity. High water content but easy to form balls - dough is required. It's easy to puff up thick rotis but thinner ones may stick to the top if dough is too wet or temperature is too low. You may have to very slightly increase the temperature setting. Calmly wait for the stuck chapati to drop. Once you are satisfied with the dough, the pressure you use and the puffing up, make dough for say 10 pieces. Make the balls roll in dry flour and flatten - all in advance and then only, switch the gadget ON. The dry flour prevents sliding off the base. Be prepared for this and coax the disc back or quickly flip over. Your actions should be calm and deliberate, even if there is wastage! This preparedness will put you into production mode, the handle and lifters will remain clean. Spread oil on the previous roti so the next one won't stick, when you put the stack in the fridge.

The truth! If you have a really good roti maker, you could stock up roties for later consumption. The weak points if any roti maker. 1. The hinge. It clamps down from one side and if the hot plates are not properly levelled one side gets too thin. Only skill and patience can override this compromise. 2. Plastic handle, lifting lugs or "ears" and pressure bearing areas are made of plastic which could break, before you get the required practice. 3. The diameter is not enough for the largest size and should be around 9 inches. 4. The roties slip away after pressing down and one has to be quick to save the loss. 5. It's viable only if you prepare the pedhas in advance. To prevent runaway of the roties, the prepared balls or pedhas have to be dusted with dry flour. 6. Overall quality control during manufacture should be implemented. Edited: Thinner rotis lift and slide due to the steam produced. They should be flipped without folding or kinking which requires calm thinking and could give you some burns. Flip rotis before allowing too much bubble build up only you can judge the amount of time for each side. Both overcooking and undercooling will not allow puffing. Practice makes perfect!
