RotMG - How To: Trickster (Oryx's Sanctuary)

It can be frustrating when you have a bad trickster in an Oryx 3 run. On the other hand, it can go oh so smoothly if your trickster(s) know what they're doing.
I made this guide to help players pick up the class and increase their understanding of O3. Hopefully it helps someone learn, whether it be about Trickster or O3.

A couple points of note about post-exalted phases, and it's that there's actually a big difference between when you should decoy post-exalted and post-celestial. Once celestial happens, o3 will begin to teleport towards the closest player before each new phase, however o3 will teleport over decoys like they are intangible. This means you CANNOT tp-block with a decoy, and it will always throw o3 to the right side if he is sitting on a coin. Another thing to note is that the fact that you're using a t7 prism most of the time is a huge mistake. The t7 prism lasts 10 seconds, which is longer than any phase that exists except maybe slashes phase, which you should not be decoying. When decoying fleeing is futile, you have to keep in mind that you want the decoy to expire before the phase ends, because it has a 50% chance of going into panic and a 50% chance of going into crumple. If it goes into panic, you want it to tp towards the group and not towards a wall - which happens a lot in pub runs. It's almost always a good idea to decoy gaze, since the phases gaze goes into are control and *fleeing, both of which are terrible phases for damage. *The same applies to fate, which goes into gaze and fleeing. Decoying crumple is a double edged sword - since crumple is one of the deadlier phases in o3 it may be a good thing to decoy it sometimes. However, you want the decoy to expire before the phase transitions into either splendor or panic, because if the decoy doesn't expire in time oryx will tp to the right 12 tiles, where he will be unable to be damaged for the good phases. Using a dancing swords prism or lower tier prism at the very beginning of the phase could be optimal if this is your intention. This also avoids the problem of everyone hugging the wall during crumple, which at the end of the phase will cause oryx to tp on to the wall as well. This is why so many "wall splendors" happen post-celestial - it's because phases that lead into splendor like crumple and shield bashes almost always have people hugging the wall, which causes o3 to tp onto said walls and go into splendor sometimes.

Is it fine to perma decoy mid post exalted? I find getting to oryx and throwing a good decoy on time nearly impossible with beams, heavens, lingering shots, portals, etc. I usually just decoy mid hoping for resets or maybe catching a gaze.

As stated in the guide, don't throw around decoys at random. If Oryx actually resets post exalted, you will have plenty of time to get a pre-emptive decoy. Sending out decoys mid could make Oryx move in unpredictable patterns, resulting him in possibly flanking a group and killing lots of people. If your group is really good dps and has been staggering every phase, it may be a good idea to not even throw a pre-emptive decoy in the first place. I hope this helps :)
