Our today’s interviewee:
Andrzej Pilecki (born 1932 in Wilno, now Vilnius, Lithuania), son of Captain Witold Pilecki. He talks about his parents and his carefree childhood in the Sukurcze estate near Lida. His parents made great efforts to improve the living conditions of the local population by setting up a dairy and organizing classes and care for children. Witold Pilecki was known for his social activism. He rode on horseback around the area, running various errands. Andrzej Pilecki also recalls September 1939 - it was obvious that his father would engage in the struggle for independence. He talks about the few meetings that he had with his father after the war and about the last time he saw him, right before Witold Pilecki was arrested by the Communist Office of Security.
