They had the entire rebuild kit for like 5 bucks on Amazon for the carburetor. It fits like five or six carburetors and you're only going to use like two gaskets

So my tiller has this exact same carb. However, it won't start but it has spark. I took the carb off and cleaned it thoroughly. Then I tried to spray some starter fluid in carb but it started leaking the starter fluid out of a pin hole at the bottom of the carb entrance. What does this mean and how can I did it?

do you happen to know how to stop gas from leaking out the pull choke? Thanks for the video and info!

could also be bad rings I tried everything even bought a whole new crab for this one brigs, after that. I learned that bad rings can prevent the the engine from providing enough vacuum to make the carb work properly. After I rebuilt the engine (took me about an hour.) The thing world start first pull even ran on diesel.

I have to prime mine with gas get it to start,then it runs fine. What’s does that indicate?
@RYEINDUSTRIAL5 жыл бұрын
That usually means the fuel pump gasket is worn out and not holding prime. I would change the fuel pump and clean the float pin. If the float pin/needle is gumed up than you can lightly clean it with a scotch bright pad. If it has a groove on it than you would need to replace the float pin and spring. Hope that helps and thanks for the comment.

I have this same Carb: Briggs & Stratton 299437 Carburetor Replaces 297599 (per Amazon) But its over $100 if i were to buy it new. On mine, the smaller pickup tube broke off at the base. Any Ideas? I was thinking about carefully drilling it out and gluing what's left of the tube, but i'm hoping there are some better ideas that don't call for buying a new carb.
@RYEINDUSTRIAL4 жыл бұрын
$100, really? You can buy a old used edger for cheaper than that just for the carb? That pick up tube is just for fuel so if you can rig a new one with some hose I say do it. If you even can used some silicone hose and use a weighted fliter, like they use in line trimmers, to hold it down to the bottom of the tank, try it. Hope that helps some. Appreciate the comment, Matt.

richard cole hey Richard, sorry for the late response and hope you got it figured out by now. The idle air screw, I seat it fully closed and turn it out 2 turns counter clockwise. I then give it a little throttle. If it bogs down and has black exhaust, its rich and I turn the screw in a half turn. If it bogs and has no black exhaust I turn it out a half turn. Can take some time to get it right but thats my normal adjustment. Try a half a turn at a time. Just n fyi: The air screw I show in the video is only for idle. If its bogging down when you accelerate then its usually a fuel starvation issue or governor problem. I would check the fuel pump gasket and clean the carb up. If those check out okay then check compression and the governor. Hope that helps, cheers!

is that circle peace on the gasket suppose to be buldged out? like is it really bad?
@RYEINDUSTRIAL9 жыл бұрын
Yeah it was bad. when it looks like that the pump wont deliver fuel properly and the fuel bowl wont keep up with the fuel needed for the engine to run at high idle. It can still run but over time it will rip and fail so I replaced it during the rebuild. Hope that helps. Cheers!

Did you have any issues separating the carb from the tank? After removing the screws did they easily come apart... Or did u have to pry them apart. I have a engine similar to yours and I have a problem where they don't want to separate. I took out the top 3-4 screws and expected to easily separated the units from each other... But it was like it was clipped or fastened inside the tank somehow.....??? Can you tell me they do not do that and I can just carefully pry the carb from the tank. Thank you for your opinion and I believe you can help me out.
@RYEINDUSTRIAL7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. They can be a little difficult to remove at times. The carb sorta glues itself to the gasket. I use a standard screw driver and easily pry the carb from the tank working your way around the carb base, not just prying at one end which could result in chipping the metal on the carb. If it just wont budge then there might be an additional screw. There shouldn't be anything inside the tank, from my experience. Like you said, usually 3-4 screws but might be one more hiding.

Have you ever heard of Grainger. Is every part that you will ever need. 24-hour day service. and there's better places in the United States than there is candidate because it's more expensive in Canada. Don't you know how to use a computer

Not a fan of Grainger but to each their own. I prefer local small engine shops to keep my money local and support local business.
