Excellent video!! One important step that was left out is Stick Calibration. For those of you new to the Taranis, make sure you calibrate the gimbal sticks before you adjust subtrims and endpoints.

Awesome need to know info here as I have never flown a non RTF drone. Just the other day I purchased the Alien RR5, and everything that was shown besides the TBS antenna. only thing you did not have in stock was the immersion RX :( I hope to have it in the air by the end of the month, yes that is a long time but I am very meticulous when I build anything. Glad my electronic soldering skills will be of use. I am sure I am going to make a photo log of the build. I have my GoPro but I don't feel like recording all of that. can't wait to get started!!

There is only one comment that you make that drives my crazy!! "Stuff" it should be referred to as "product" stuff makes things sound like nothing special. The stock battery works almost to spec. Maybe the short run time resides in the Tx charge logic. I cycled 3 different stock X9D packs to look for the average . The manual claims 260mAh is what the X9D pulls with the back light on. I haven't measured it myself. Using a cellpro set at 260mA cycled 3 times each pack. Results in 9 measurements averaged 6.8 hrs. The shortest time was 6.5 hrs...

@finalglidaus: The reason your sounds are wrong, is that you have upgraded to OpenTX 2.1, but NOT upgraded the audio pack. In their "wisdom" (read: misguidedness?) they changed the numbering of the audio files between versions... god knows WHY... as a programmer, that's just a thing you never do - but they did. So you need to download the sound pack for OpenTX 2.1.x

+FinalGlideAus hmm... I'm following the two developers of the new spektrum satellite with telemetry on RCGroups.com and they assured it would have full telemetry including RSSI. I'm definitely hoping as well. We shall see...! Thanks for your reply, Chad! I love watching you guys! It always inspires me to push my limits when I watch you guys! Cheers! -Clint
@FinalGlideAus
@FinalGlideAus 8 жыл бұрын
The telemetry needs to communicate on the same language as the gear it's connected too. For a lot of stuff that is S.Port. Spektrum has a history of not wanting to use what is already out there but I do hope they make that compatible. Combining Telemetry support and a more solid radio link and I would jump back on Spektrum quite quickly.

I want to thank you guys for this video. I've been struggling with my Q450 quad for months now with a constant drift problem. I've reflashed my FC thinking it was a problem in there after reading the forums. After watching this video and hearing you mention the sub-trim and how if it's not set right it can cause drift a light came on. I just finished a test flight in my back yard after adjusting the sub-trim and ti was AWESOME!. Keep up the amazing work. Your videos are funny and informative. I know you guys have done a video on props but do you guys have to balance your props? At this stage of my development I don't really want to spend a lot of money on props but I may have to. That part after 12:05 got me thinking a little... What happens if the Arm Switch is already set to ON the moment you provide power to the Quad? What happens if the Throttle Stick is in the UP position the moment you toggle the Arm switch? Yeah I had this happen to me with a Quad flipping over during a disarm but if any of two questions prove my inner suspicion then hell no... This is by no means how I'd suggest a safer way to arm a Quad. Especially not *after* showing the audience how to disable the Switch Warning on the remote.
@FinalGlideAus
@FinalGlideAus 8 жыл бұрын
The FC needs to go through it's startup procedure and calibrate things first on startup so it won't arm until you recycle the arm switch if you ave it armed already. You cannot arm on any throttle setting except for min throttle. If you are plugging in your quad before you turn on your Tx then you are asking to be part of the Darwin Awards anyway.

Hi. youve just really helped me out after flying spektrum all these years. set up was quite easy after watching this and theres so many features. Ive done the low battery warning. It works as should but mine gives a low battery warning when i first plug in. even on a full pack. then will work as normal for the whole flight only going off if i go below set voltage. is there anyway to stop it going off when i plug it in. im only using it to warn me of plugging in a spent pack so its annoying how its working atm

Great video guys. But I've got a question on the first logical switch. You set it up with a 2s delay so that the voltage needs to stay below your set point for 2 seconds before triggering L1. But I've read that that's not what that delay is for and that you must actually use an EDGE switch to add a time that the condition must be TRUE before the switch triggers. I hope I'm wrong, as that simplifies the logical switches quite a bit! Here's the definition of the delay field from OpenTX: Duration: The length of time the switch will stay ON. If set to 0.0, the switch will remain on until the conditions make the switch off. Any other setting will cause the switch to go off after the number of seconds selected, even if the conditions remain true.
@FinalGlideAus
@FinalGlideAus 8 жыл бұрын
Yes you may be right Kevin, I do intend to try the edge switch out when I get a chance. Thanks for reminding me. I actually forgot. The voltage alarm for me is not a bit issue anyway as it's basically never used. Mah consumption is much more important.
@kevinhall8949
@kevinhall8949 8 жыл бұрын
I can't get mah working for some reason. It hits 80% in just a minute or so when the battery has plenty of amps left. Strange. Anyway, here's my logical switches for voltage: L1: a
