Rotterdam Centraal is the main railway station in the Dutch port city of Rotterdam. It is a transport hub for the Dutch railways and is therefore one of the most important train stations in the Netherlands with 88,983 (2022) passengers per day.
Rotterdam Centraal is located right in the heart of the city and is one of the Netherlands’ largest train stations. From here, you can easily travel to numerous other Dutch cities. National long-distance and local trains as well as the Beneluxtrain to Brussels and the Thalys to Paris operate here. The city's bus and tram lines ( Rotterdam tram ) and the city's metro also run here. Furthermore, the light rail line to The Hague (line E of the RandstadRail ) is via the metro Rotterdam and is connected to the station, with trains from The Hague continuing to the Slinge metro station.
The station is connected to the international HSL-Zuid, which is part of the Amsterdam - Antwerp ( -Brussels - Paris ) high-speed line. Since a massive increase in passenger numbers to 323,000 is forecast by 2025, the station was virtually rebuilt, with the redesign of the station area based on designs by Benthem Crouwel Architects being a key project in Rotterdam's urban development.
Brussels Airport’s train station and stations in the Netherlands are equipped with access gates. As a result, you can only enter or leave the station using the square bar code (QR Code) on your train ticket.
