I've wondered this so many times myself and have come to the conclusion that Rotting Christ is so good that even metalheads worry listening to them will rob them of their little souls.

It's got to be because of the name. I was just telling my metal group on Facebook about how I thought they'd have been huge had they a less religiously offensive name. On the other hand, it does weed out the weak. Where I think RC excels is the primal, native sounding tribal style they bring, but also the addictive looping sections as well. "Xibalba" is one of my favorites. "He, the Aethyr" is another. Spectacular band deserving of honor. Thank you gentlemen for helping me reconnect with my tribal roots from the beginnings of human civilization. Much can be learned from our beginnings and the purity of those times you capture so well in your music. \m/

Yeap, they don't release stuff that don't express them in the fullest, you've got to respect them for this, too. As Sakis has stated in a relatively recent interview, when asked if he's writing new music during the lockdown in Greece, he always writes and pre-records riffs, BUT a good riff does not mean a good song or a meaningful song. So, what we get is always an honest outcome, music coming from the soul after sitting on and feeling proud of it.

So much of today’s metal and black metal is mundane, relying on a wall of noise to cover a lack of craft. This is very much something else. There is a groove and a solid base from the percussion with well thought out guitar riffs that make sense. I love this
