My father abandoned me when I was 12, for earthly endeavors. This song made me realize I've been my own father all along, he was just there to help me remember it. Every one of us is our own fathers, our future selves, who we came to become, our mature, wise and grounded selves, guiding who we are now, our immature, impulsive and arrogant selves.

By far the most difficult music video I've watched in my life since my father passed away 9 months ago. The line: “... Passion, love, and faith/Belief to your own spirit” reminds me of words written by my father in a birthday letter to me back in 2001. And we didn't live far from each other. Anyway, somehow this song gives me some strength to carry on. Thank you Rotting Christ. From a Brazilian fan since 1994.

Agreed. This is undoubtedly a good song full of passion and emotion but the feature of smoothness is all over the place. Guitar tone, production, song structure.. everything is smooth. Unfortunately the aspect of smoothness alienates metal from its original aggressive and marginal principles, which is ironic since this song is about preserving and passing classic values. People easily call it "evolution" or "mature"but to me is just another step closer to make metal paired to non-metalheads.

This song is truly inspiring. Thank you Rotting Christ for this masterpiece. Having had a "father" that caused me many, many traumatizing events, I can't really relate to what it is to have a living and caring father but I can understand its importance. One man stepped up to the plate though when I turned 13; my mom's husband of 30 years being together. Everything I know today that is good comes from him. He saved my life many times in the past. Johnny, if your reading this, I dedicate this song to you. Thank you for being you. I might never had a real father but you are damn well better than any father I could've expected. This song is my hommage to him, to Johnny, thank you for believing in me. Today, I'm in my mid 40's and all I can say is that everything I know that is good comes from him. I'm a better man and father cause of him. Skåll!

The band appeared in this article, the album and cover chosen was Triachy of Lost Lovers (original cover).
