This is among the most underrated metal albums in existence. Non Serviam and Triarchy from this masterful band always get plenty of praise, and their newer works helped bring them to a wider audience... but this gem is true musical perfection. The unique blend of hard rock esque riffs with a darker edge added to them, all with Sakis' awesome vocals on top. Simple perfection.

I remember when they released. The black and death metal fans became frustrated with the band while other subgenres of metal fans didn't care because they didn't care care for black and death metal. My favorite type of metal was thrash but I'd listen to everything people showed to see if I liked anything else and this album trully caught my attention. Maybe it was the last "new" thing I liked in metal overall. Trully underrated album, very creative and ignored probably because of the reason I said in the first paragraph.

This was the 1st Rotting Christ album I ever bought & it was the first I'd ever heard them. I grew up with Venom & Bathory pounding my ears but the 2nd wave did nothing for me. That was until I bought A Dead Poem. Sure it's got more melody than any BM album has any right to have ( joking folks 😉 ), but that's what grabbed me & opened my ears up for the countless great BM acts I was to soon devour. If I was to pigeonhole this album, it would be Blackened Doom Metal. Thankfully ROTTING CHRIST aren't a band you can pigeonhole too easily. No disrespect to their peers, but in my opinion ROTTING CHRIST are by far the greatest Metal band to come from the ancient shores of Greece 🤘

I disagree. IMO the best era includes everything from Triarchy of the Lost Lovers up to Sanctus Diavolos. Dead Poem is generally great, but lacks that one song that rocks my socks off - Among Two Storms is the closest but it's second track, and after that album became softer and softer. Triarchy of the Lost Lovers is a little like a Dead Poem - slightly worse, but generally good. Sleep of the Angels feels just too soft and monotonous - but has something that Dead Poem and Triarchy lasts - THAT one song, wchich also happens to be the last one - Thine is the Kingdom saves this album from being entirely forgettable. Khronos is a step back to Black Metal roots which is IMO a step in good direction, but we're not here yet, few songs are great tho. Finally Genesis and Sanctus Diavolos are the albums that has everything - melody, solos, lyrics, kickass songs (with Doctrine which feels like it's every RC song mashed into one), and great summarizing songs: Under the Name of Legion and Sanctus Diavolos.

This was my first album of Rotting Christ (what a guitar work!!!). This album and his direct brother "Sleep of the Angels" are true gems. In their last works, they are more focused on the atmospheres and the arrangements and they have forgotten that they were true cracks in the handling of their guitars. A real shame, but (and this is in case they're reading me) it's never too late to get back to the way. Long live Rotting Christ, one of my most aprecciated bands. OSMÜGA

I've always loved the cover of this album. But it's funny because in the biography I'm reading now, it talks about how the cover was kind of a hack job done by the label using Photoshop and wasn't really designed by the band themselves. Still, despite that, I've always loved the cover. Especially the pages in the booklet with that brass/bronze color motif.

Descubrí a Rotting Christ tarde, en mi casa lo más metalero que se escuchaba era Queen, mis compañeros de escuela peor, cumbia escuchaban, las tendencias en los canales de musica iban de mediocres para abajo. Asi que musicalmente me tuve que educar sólo. Leyendo la revista Madhouse descubrí a Rotting Christ, Cradle Of Filth, Satyricon, Mortiis y otras más. @@MaximaMiluska Muy cierto, por eso algumas bandas no vienen, porque no venden. Rotting Christ iba a venir en 2010 o 20111, no recuerdo bien y cancelaron el concierto por falta de ventas. Angeles del infierno hizo un tour en latinoamerica, tocaron en muchos paises y a la Argentina no vinieron. Alice Cooper en 2007 iba a hacer 2 obras y una función en Córdoba, la de Córdoba la canceló, de las 2 restantes; una la canceló y la otra postergo la fecha y cambió el lugar: terminó haciendo un Gran Rex. El por qué de todo ésto: no hay oyentes... Un saludo!!!

Yeah! This album is really perfect! I couldn't comprehend all greatness of this album when I listened it аt the first time. It seemed too heavy for me. I didn't like а сlamant vocal of Sakis but I always remembered impressive guitars, drums аnd keyboard passages. And now after many years l understand that l was wrong.
