Probe checks deck height, computer calculates height from crankshaft centerline or existing decks. Deck heights are equal and parallel to crankshaft centerline. Coolant no required.

Nice machine to get the key features controlled and precision for block blueprinting. I realize it is a 15 minute demo but slowing the feed on the decks to get the smoothest finish possible is desirable. A smooth mirror finish is desirable.

@motion245279 жыл бұрын
This method doesn't set the block up from two very important reference points, the oe datum on the pan side and the crank/cam centerline. You cannot blueprint the bore locations or the deck angles unless the machine probes both of these.

CNC machines not only have guards and doors but the doors are "electronically locked" during automatic operation. Who needs a proper tool changer when you can make a DIY one and the end of the travel with the tapers exposed to oh never mind . Nice robust quill.

Deckplate while machining ?
@Shade_tree_garage01 Жыл бұрын
You don’t use a deck plate for boring smart one, you use it for finish honing, you bore a cylinder within 3-4 thou of its finish size, and finish the rest on the hone
@Resistculturaldecline Жыл бұрын
@Shade_tree_garage01 Smart one ? It's not a cut and dried matter. Some blocks move more than others when torqued, or bolts vs. studs. Enough movement that trying to get the concentricity back by honing alone isn't a preferred method imo. Depends on the block to an extent, and depends on what's agreed upon as good enough or not.
@washide258811 жыл бұрын
is that fully automatic to find block height or is it because standarts..
