I installed 2, 1/2 shackles in the front, but I set it up so all the bolts were the same size, I drilled out the sleeves and installed those poly bushings, I installed 2,1/lift spring in the rear, since I raised the rear instead of buying new shocks I lowered the top shock mounts by drilling out the frame, the pervious owner had the front and rear springs mounted of top of the axles, and the front end was all screwed up, I removed the rear track bar and removed the front sway bar. where I live no two jeeps are the same.

How did it turn out and what part of the country are u in? Man that lift was a booger to install, given it was my 1st go on one and had to dang near cut everything because of the severe rust on everything.

WV, the frame had already been welded up where it needed it, it still has the spring perchs welded on top of the axle, I replace the springs with stock in front and 2 and 1/2 in the rear, because the old ones had lost most of the arch.

I got a 95 yj I ran into a tree and messed up the passenger front and rear leaf springs and the front shock got messed up abt a year ago and I’m just now fixing to order a 2.5 inch rough country lift I’ll fix that problem with that

Several weirdos said that the RC lift is junk. I personally felt a ride difference between it and the pro comp I had. In fact, the RC lift rode much smoother. As far as getting crazy wild with flex, that might be a different story. However, for the money, it's a great product. Good luck my friend!!!

great vid, do the front shackles straighten out (angle forward) when you line up the leaf spring to the axle?
@JRMSweeps
@JRMSweeps 5 жыл бұрын
They are the same angle as before i did this lift since it was the same height lift.

This was very helpful. I'm planning to installation a 4" lift on my 93 yj this spring/summer. I've never done anything like that before but you made it look very do-able. By the way, what size tires are those and did you need wheel spacers for them? Thanks!
@JRMSweeps
@JRMSweeps 7 жыл бұрын
+matt brewster the rims are rockstar xd811 17 inch with 33x12.50x17 nitto grapplers. No wheel spac3rs, but we do get rub at about 90% wheel turn which is no biggie...this is my 1st lift install as well...the front took me about 8 hours lol

JRMSweeps so you actually have room with 17" rims? Wow! I thought I'd be pushing my luck in trying to put 31/10.5s on my 15" rims!

Did you install a transfer case drop bracket? How did the vibrations do? I ordered my lift about a week ago and Im waiting for that, gonna install it and then order a slip yoke eliminator with a Tom Woods drive shaft. Just curious how it felt without a sye or beefier shaft.
@JRMSweeps
@JRMSweeps 4 жыл бұрын
I didn't install a drop bracket when I did the new lift, however, there could have been one with the old pro comp lift that was there before. I didn't look tbh. No slip yoke elim and stock drive shafts because all it was just a rusty ole beach rig. Rode great after install. As far as vibrations, didn't have any from the new lift. Rode just as good as the pro comp lift we had with no issues.

did you leave the U-bolts loose until you lowered the jeep back done and then tighten them up? or did you tighten them before dropping the jeep?

Hey I know this video is old but I was wondering what you think. I recently got a 1994 yj wrangler. I want to get new tires and I don’t know much about cars. So do you know the biggest size that would fit on mine?
@JRMSweeps
@JRMSweeps 3 жыл бұрын
Is it lifted or stock? It depends on the rims as well. Are you going to use stock rims or aftermarket?

The bolts and nuts I had to buy separately. I went to fastenal and got grade 8 hardware. I can't remember timewise, but want to say it was 4 to 5 hours or so since I had to cut everything out and was a 1 man crew.

I had to stop this video to say something. You will thank me later. Buy a battery operated 18 or 20 V grinder. Also, Milwaukee makes a great 18 V cordless half-inch impact that would make this job so much easier

Ty man. I have an 18v impact, didn't do to hot for me at all since all the undercarriage was rusted. The nut heads weren't even squared off anymore. I def need a batt op grinder tho. You buying lol. Thanks for the comment my man.

You sure those "+" signs are supposed to go towards the front? Instructions say the "larger eye" goes towards the back and the larger eye on mine is the back one. Called RC and they just said the + and - signs don't mean anything. Also having same to ratchet strap.
@JRMSweeps
@JRMSweeps 3 жыл бұрын
From what I researched, yes. However, I'm a regular joe doing this in the yard so could be wrong. I can say after install everything worked out really nicely. Why would they put + - on it if it didnt mean anything?
@danielmason5865
@danielmason5865 3 жыл бұрын
Thats what I said lol....maybe the guy i talked too didn't really know. So you had to ratchet strap because the springs were too far to the right or left, correct? Having same problem and was wondering if something might be bent.
@JRMSweeps
@JRMSweeps 3 жыл бұрын
Possibly or it could be the fact that the jeep is so old and not perfectly lined up as well. You know over the years all kinds of stuff happens to these rigs. Ours was a crazy old rust bucket that was put through hell and back so it was prob def outta whack.
