Ever have a day where your appetite for adventure exceeded your skill level?

How do you like the 125 compared to 250? We have a couple 23 250x, and was curious how they were for torque, lightness, etc. did you make any mods, gearing, flywheel weight, head, pipe, etc. Doubt I'd give up 250, but 125 as 2nd bike perhaps.

IF I were to do it all over I'd probably get a 250, however... I like how easy it is to start, spark plug is insanely accessible just in case, and it's light. I'm about 135-140 on a fat day so it's a great size for me. Stock, it left a little on the table. Since then, I've put a lectron billetron on it, apex head, funnel web air filter, and boysen rad valve (freight train kit). Added a steahly flywheel weight and it's a 125 that can do 300 stuff. It's crazy how low I can run that engine and tractor along on a 125, granted I spent "250 money" on it. The power curve is a little less terrifying than the 250, more predictable, and as long as you wind up before hand and accelerate with the clutch, rather than throttle, can be a very capable machine.

@@weeblewobbles Thanks for the info, I can tell from video your bike lugs pretty well. I find the smaller cc bikes give more confidence to try tricky hills like those in your video. I had a 22 KTM 150 TPI but got the 23 yz250x. We put on apex heads as well, flywheel weights, etc. My son did the pipes (FMF) and power valve mod. 250 can be aggressive at times but getting used to it.

@@jpconard It's like night and day for Matty going from the CR125 (which was never a good idea as a trail bike) to the 250x. It's got some pep. Crazy how easily the front wheel wants to leave the ground. But I agree. The 125 has it, but it's controllable which instantly boosts confidence to try things, and in my case Sunday, fail about 6 or 7 times.
