Great video...got the Moken 10 V2 last week...gave up the extra speed of the 12.5 for the extra stability of the 10...but I chose FeelFree mainly on the videos you have posted. Thanks for all the great content and detailed reviews. For those of you making choices...I am 6'4 270...I have plenty of room in the 10...it is slow...so I would not recommend crossing a lake in it...I exclusively fish medium and small rivers...for stability...it sticks to the water like it is glued to it...I am used to the roll and pitch of canoes....so that was a neat surprise. On river rapids with 2 foot waves...it either cut right through them of road over them with very little roll or pitch...seated in the high position. FeelFree really puts a lot of thought into these designs. Love the Moken.

thanks for your review. I was having a difficult time choosing between the 10 v2 and 12.5 v2 but I do want that extra stability and prefer the shorter profile of the 10 v2 since I'm not a big guy. Sounds like the 10 v2 is for me. I enjoy going slow anyways.

@@walden6272 I've had it for a year now...still luv the boat...the stability has saved me three times when I got sideways in rapids...any less stable kayak or canoe would have flipped...this one stayed flat and I was able to step out and get unstuck. The only mod I made was to add some extra bungi to the side tackle holder as the boxes will slide under the seat. I hope you enjoy yours!!

Wow, rough situation there. I purchased my first kayak last summer. I got the Moken 12.5. I’m a bank beater so its been quite a learning experience, even trying to modify it to my preferences. I ran into rough waters on Lake George NY last summer and I gotta say it handled amazing from a beginners point of view. Thank you for content. Tight lines 🎣

you know, I was thinking about this yak the other day. I have owned a Bonafide SS127, Crescent Shoalie, Lure. Hands down, the most capable vessel of ALL of them is still that Moken. Now, fishability is unmatched in that Bonafide. Shoalie is FAST, Lure is comfortable. BUT, the Moken is tactical. Love that boat.

Bought a Moken 12.5. I am 6’4” weigh about 250. This cockpit is pretty small for me. The foot pedals don’t adjust long enough and the seat can’t slide back. I was constantly bumping my knees with my paddle. I managed to clumsily raise my seat while I was on the water and it helped quite a bit, but I don’t really want to HAVE to always paddle up high. Just something to consider for taller kayakers thinking about this boat.
@WAEofFishing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info! I never encountered this being that I am only 5'10. I wonder if it is possible that the footpeg can be removed and reattached farther out??? I think now that I read this comment that your center of gravity being taller is much higher and would make the yak more left/right unstable. could you feel the yak moving back and forth off center or was it mostly stable. Flipping is hard to explain as how the boat is loaded could impact it as well. Sorry you had this experience. Now I am wondering what would be a better boat for you. Wildy perhaps? A recon or Coosa HD?? You have given me something to think about that I have never encountered before. I will ask some wise old sages and see if there is information for you! stay tuned!

@@WAEofFishing I really like the boat and I will just adjust the way I paddle when I’m low for now. If this kayaking stays with me I’ll upgrade to something more stable and larger for me. The wife’s Jackson bite is like a school bus inside compared to my Moken! So much room.

Perhaps someone has an answer for me on this one. Me and the wife went out together for the first time with our Kayaks. Hers was a shorter, wider Jackson Bite. Mine a longer, thinner Feelfree Moken 12.5. Paddled one way uneventfully, then took a rest and swapped yaks for the ride back. Still uneventful. Ate a bite on shore then proceeded to go out again with our own yaks. My ass quickly ended up in the water twice within a few minutes of each other. Right off the shoreline. I had went back to the lower seat position (to try again because I’d kept bumping my knee with my paddle in this position) and was trying to tighten down the front seat strap, looked right and there I went. Tried again 5 mins later and had a repeat. This is after 3 hours of steadiness. Any ideas why this happened?
@WAEofFishing2 жыл бұрын
Which boat did you flip in? The feelfree?
@Wrexxxx2 жыл бұрын
@@WAEofFishing the Moken. The Bite is steady as a rock. A lot wider. The Moken is shakier (slimmer) and I knew this already but after hours of uneventful kayaking I was surprised to end up in the water after such an inconsequential action.

12 is faster, 10 has higher weight capacity. Really depends on budget 1st, then use case. Open water, distance, rough water....12'. Tight spaces, 10'. You won't truly struggle getting one on the Tahoe more than the other

I am wanting to buy a new kayak and I am looking at the moken 12.5 V2. My question is how stable is it when standing. I really like to fish standing so I will be wanting to stand.
@WAEofFishing4 жыл бұрын
i could stand on it fine. I gave it to my son and he stands ALL the time. One thing I noticed is that standing depends on core strenghth. the more out of shape I am the worse my balance. Also, the Moken is the best mix of stability and speed I have. My Bonafide is CRAZY stable but not as fast or nimble as the Moken. So, I think it is a better all around boat. thanks for watching!

Hey bro, it's guy's like you I thank for taking time for newbies like myself. 2 questions. I wanted the lime green feel free lite for 2years. I've been fishing all my life, but kayak fishing is lots of learning. I finally received my vessel this summer. I have the feel free side fitted transom, for my new 2.5 Suzuki outboard, and I added a set of hard plastic outriggers, look like scotty, but they're very durable. I am 45, and have a heart condition, and only weigh, around 154lbs, at 5' 7". I love my boat, and fish a 900 acre lake, and do other trips. I do love to paddle, to stay in shape, once I recon different spots, and fish. Is the Moken lite rudder ready, and will it take a lure seat swap. Thanks for your videos. Stay safe..
@WAEofFishing4 жыл бұрын
It will not take a lure seat. None of the moken will. I don't think the lite is rudder ready. I have to check. I love that I can connect and help people like you! That sounds like a sweet set up!
