My local golf club has an option where you join the club, thus gaining a handicap and playing in comps, but you don't have a season ticket for the course. So a pay as you play as a member. It is a lot cheaper and allows more people to join the club.

worth clarifying: there are plenty of TGL shows on at prime time in the UK throughout february, just this first few are on too late for most of us.
@ScuffyMcMuffin5 күн бұрын
We'll see how TGL goes. I think one thing benefitting it, despite being a bit contrived, is that it is mainly an off-season thing. Also, I think you could look at it another way besides being a lesser version of normal pro golf: because so many people play sim golf and that is becoming more and more advanced (especially, like you said, in South Korea), I think some people will see TGL as the pinnacle/ultimate version of that and think it's cool. I've played on some sims with adjustable bases with different types of artificial turf that was cool, so to see the way they have TGL set up is an awesome version of that, rather than a lesser version of normal golf. For me, it'll be important to see if the players care enough to want to win and add some trash talk that you wouldn't normally see during a PGA Tour event... but like any team sport, I still have to want to care about a team and right now, I don't, so we'll see.

Re TGL..One of the problems with the world is media like this asking questions and making assumptions. We can do that for ourselves, we don’t need others to feed us their views unless they’re backed up with something substantial. Just let it happen and the question will be answered automatically. Sorry, but for me this podcast is becoming quite tedious.
@bradyplustwos5 күн бұрын
Watching the TGL live now, definitely the nonsense is rampant. DJ’s, music during shots and way to much crowd noise. Questionable commentary. A lot of the things that make me never watch sports here in the US. However, the players smiles and laughing always fun to see. Good enough banter to start. The format is pretty good. It’s fast! I think I’ll really enjoy this as long as winning never actually “matters”. Those guys want to win as is in their nature, but it doesn’t change anything if they don’t which should keep it fun. I’m pure Tiger era so any way to see him keep swinging the club I’m in. I’d love to the elder greats give this a go too

Caddie-player conversation hater checking in. LIV got on a spree of broadcasting these convos, but they get old very quickly. Had to mute the broadcast by the 5th time Joaquim Niemann and his caddie spent a full minute mulling over club selection and shot shape. This kind of content is interesting theory but doesn't really work in practice, even if you're a 'knowledgeable' viewer.

The only way tgl works is with personalities shining through. In America, where I'm from, it's going to be tough because of commercials. Do you want to watch 2-4 hrs of the product with commercials every 5 minutes? Finding the right announcers is going to be critical as well. To me thats whete Liv falls short, thier announcers. I like Liv a lot. But that in my opinion is where they are lacking the most. That could hurt their Fox broudcast. Liv needs the deal to get more sponsors and golf courses. Unlike the pga which is on 3 different channels per tournament, which can be quite annoying. Just my thoughts. I'm not a pga hater, I just think they lost the ball and are scrambling.

It looks like you haven’t done too much research on this before recording. Do you not watch the Fore play Video? They grow turf behind the stadium to replace the ‘mats.’ Also the greens can surely easily change in between holes. I think the way they have designed the holes is a very clever idea. No point in playing real courses. Make them fun, crazy courses. They did well to make it different.
