Spiraalina tehty aloitus, jolla saa pyöreän kärjen kintaisiin tai sukkiin. Videolla silmukat ovat ylisuuria, jotta ne erottuisivat paremmin. Tee varsinaisista aloitussilmukoista pienempiä, mutta kuitenkin riittävän suuria, että neula mahtuu läpi.
Paksusta langasta riittää noin 8 silmukkaa, ohuemmasta langasta voit joutua tekemään noin 15. Jos silmukoita on liian vähän, "kukkanen" ei tahdo ylettää kiinni, ja jos taas liikaa, "kukkasen" reunat lerputtavat aaltomaisesti tai keskelle jää aukko. Seuraavalla kerroksella tee jokaiseen vanhaan silmukkaan kaksi uutta silmukkaa (silmukkamäärä tuplaantuu), ja sitä seuraavalla tee lisäys joka toiseen silmukkaan. Jatka silmukoiden lisäämistä, kunnes kintaan alku on halutun levyinen.

Spiral start of a mitten or sock, makes a rounded top. On the video the loops are overly large so that they would show better. Make actual loops smaller, but large enough for the needle to fit through.
With thick yarn some 8 loops may be enough, while with thin yarn you may need to do some 15 loops. If there are too few loops, the "flower" won't close easily, and if there are too many, the edges of the "flower" will ruffle, or there will be a gap in the center. On the next round, do two new stithces into every old one, and on the next round after that, do an increase into every second. Keep on increasing until you have a desired number of stitches (until the mitten is wide enough).

Please do notice that the movements are slow on purpose, and that due to some difficulties combining suitable light and the position of the video camera, and that I wanted to see my hands both irl and on the small video screen, I had to keep my arms and hands in a bit akward and clumsy position, so the movements may not look "natural".
