You guys are killing it and putting a much-needed smile on my face. THANK YOU!!! Your visit to Tucumcari is awesome. There is a song called "Willin" that was originally done by a famous band from my neck of the woods called Little Feat that was covered later by Linda Ronsdat that actually mentions this town. Little Feat has produced some great music in their day.

It's actually Glen Rio N.M. (the post office was in N.M.) The place that you said had a restaurant, gas station and motor Cort was the Texas Long Horn, it was on the boarder of Texas and N.M. they moved 5 miles west when I40 went through. Named it the TL2. The rooms in the old hotel were made into housing for the employees. I lived there in the late 70s. As far as alcohol, the bar was in N.M. because that county of Texas was a dry county at that time, not sure if it still is. I could keep going on about the past of there, my family is from that area and many still live there. Thanks for the video

The 1938 pic of the Alamo interior looks remarkably the way it did when I visited in 1964! No guards or slick displays... where Jim Bowie's famous knife was hung on a peg just out of reach on the wall. It was dark and dank inside with air that barely moved as you peered into those old oak cases.

Okay, homesick again. When you were going around the golf course in Amarillo, my mom lived two blocks from there. She spent a lot of time in the 6th Street (old 66) part just east, where all the antique shops (and that Sinclair station) and such were. Her barber shop was down on McMasters so she was on that road daily. There used to be an awesome restaurant called Barnaby's Beanery that had fantastic food but last time I was up there, it was gone. Hope you guys had fun on this trip.
