Hopefully that will be the only bad food experience you’ll have on this historic route! It looks like the community’s along the route have done a great job of maintaining the history. The enthusiasm was displayed by the mayor stopping and giving a personal history lecture. I especially liked the round barn! That wooden dome roof was really cool!

Hey y’all! Can’t wait to see Route 66 when I go full time! I have no desire to start in Chicago…during my trucking days been there, done that, and, don’t care for that town at all. Here are the Route 66 Must Sees in the Oklahoma City Area. Route 66 is the United State's historic highway that was established in 1926, It is over 2,400 miles, and it goes from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California. Route 66 was the first National Highway and was a major thru-way to the west. Route 66 has been on our bucket list for years and now we get the chance to travel the Mother Road. We are starting in Oklahoma City and seeing how far we go on Route 66.

I remember the bombing like it was yesterday. I think the memorial is wonderful. Did you know that Route 66 was originally supposed to be called Route 60... It actually appeared as Route 60 on some very old maps. There was quite the controversy about it... In the end, the designer settled on the name 66... I have always wanted to ride route 66 by motorcycle. It will not likely happen now, but I was once on my bucket list. Apparently, it is no longer complete, parts are no longer in existence. I have seen that round barn many times on various videos. I think it is amazing... Thanks for sharing your adventure with us... As always it was an interesting and professional creation... Well done... Be well...

There are a lot of the parts of Route 66 that are no longer open at all. It reroutes you back onto I-40. They dug it up and it's just gone. They say about 80 to 85% is still there, but some of it is so rough you can't travel it in your rv. Even with that it's an awesome trip! We had no clue that it was once possibly called Route 60. Very interesting information. Thank you so much for sharing it with us! And if you can't travel it on a motorcycle take a car. You will love it! Great comment and thank you so much for it.

@@RVAmerica I took a short video in there during the Snowpocalypse. There are some nice displays. I think there are other ones around Texas with the same theme. I picked up a map one time at a visitors station. The safari themed wayside is the favorite for me. It's cool that Texas puts extra effort into rest areas for the public. Okay, I've said enough. 😁🍻

Hey guys, fantastic video, but route 66 was not the first National highway. Hwy 30 (The Lincoln Highway) was the first transcontinental highway, it was established in 1913 and ran from New York to SanFrancisco, 13 years before route 66 was established. It is certainly fun to get off the interstates and visit the communities along these original routes. Thanks for the advice on the soda shop. 🍻 Sean
