I did. Had to cut down to 23 days as I was trying to do everything. It was awesome and I want to go again. I did ride up and back but got to Denali and Haines for a couple of days each. @@matthewhoopes4440

May I suggest that if you're going to make the effort to ride to Fairbanks Alaska also go to Anchorage, and down to Haines to pick up the inside passage by way of the Alaska Marine Highway(ferry) with stops in Juneau and Ketchikan to Bellingham, Washington.

Ah yes, the inevitable trade of time for money. It took me and my son 6 weeks, 12.500 miles Florida to Alaska and back by way of Bellingham, WA. That inside Passage is exceptional 👌.

Would be helpful to include fuel points especially in Yukon Territory also how the tires held up and when you needed to change them was preplanned or as you needed them? Also how many miles you could travel in a day comfortably. I did not look at your trip detail as pehaps these questions could have been ascertained thanks.

Depends on the bike. I have an 8 gallon tank. The travel series shows all what you’re asking for.

Hey Mario, enjoyed having you as a guest. I guest. Forwarding a bill now would throw the trip calculation off and require a new video, kidding of course. Shame we didn't get a chance to ride together, maybe next time. On a more humorous note, I was broad sided by a deer Sunday morning while riding the rail trail. Threw me, the 1290 and the deer into the bush! Bike has a couple more dents in the side cases, the deer lost some fur and a chunk of antler, I came out of it with no breaks, only bruises and a mild concussion. Thinking the buck might have had a headache the next day as well!! KTM not only Ready To Race, not bad for deer hunting either!!

Excellent break down, thanks. I plan on taking the Amtrak Auto train from Sanford, Fl to Lorton , VA in late September and ride south thru Blue Ridge Pkwy back to Miami. This will be my first long ride and this helps with ideas.
@2WR6 жыл бұрын
That station is only about 30 miles from my office and a little over an hour to my house. The start of the Blue Ridge is very close by my house too. If you have time and want to meet up for dinner or something one night (assuming I'm in town), let me know.

That is one hell of a trip! Didn't submit a guess since I never ride 2-up, but I only missed by $20. Looks like you didn't do much of Alaska other than up to Fairbanks and back; next trip I'd highly recommend the road from Fairbanks down to Anchorage, hopefully you'd get a clear look at Denali along the way. Has to be one of the most awesome sights on Earth.

Agreed 👍.. Fairbanks, Anchorage, then down to Haines to pick up the inside passage by way of the Alaska Marine Highway (ferry) to Bellingham, Wa. for a more complete Alaska experience.

Very nice video & its good of you to share all that information with others who will be making, or would like to make, the trip to Alaska. I'm 71 (yoa) & I was up there in July of 2015 on an FJR & will be going back in June of 2019 on a smaller (670 cc) duel sport type of bike. Its hard to get any hotels in Canada for under $150.00 (TTL) per night so may I suggest something you & your readers may want to ponder. # 1 is camping as its a wonderful experience & adds to the adventure. # 2 is camping at a KOA CG as not only can you use your tent but they also have one room cabins w/o a bathroom (with a bathhouse nearby) in the $60.00 to $80.00 per night range & less (depending whether its America or Canada). No linens or towels but if you have your camping gear you also have a sleeping bag. As someone else mentioned here camping is a great way to meet other riders. My last suggestion is to check out the Dust 2 Dawn ADV gathering in Dawson City Yukon every year on the Summer Solstice & the best hotel deal there at that time of year may be a place called the Bunkhouse. A room with two twin beds & a shared bath is only $95.00 plus tax at that time of year which is (appox) $40.00 to $50.00 less than any other lodging (I believe). Safe travels

Great video! That’s a hell of a breakdown! I’d recommend to people going from the US to make it a month long trip min. There is a lot to see and people to meet. Remember your on vacation. Camp, your gonna meet so many people you’ll end up riding with and keep in contact after. You’ll never truly ride alone on that note. I figure it cost me 10k or a little less just looking at my checking account from start to finish. Money well spent! I’ll prolly go to Newfoundland next and perhaps the Dempster area later. My 15’ 1190 r did great but bring a fuel filter, they last for 9k or so with all the little gas stations. It almost left me stranded. That’s my 2 cents anyway for anyone that’s gonna have a ride of a lifetime coming up. Ride safe.

Mario: Have a question for ya. First off really like your videos!!!!! I have ridden many thousands of miles and was wondering how you seem to cover so many miles a day when you apparantly stay off the interstates. To cover 550-600 miles you must be doing very long days or going pretty damn quick. Your comments would be much appreciated, thanks.
@2WR5 жыл бұрын
Marc, Thanks! To answer your question on the high mileage days, it's a combination of things. 1) I usually start pretty early in the morning by 7:00am, typically no later than 8:00am. 2) I keep my stops brief aside from the ones to check out museums, parks, etc. 3) For whatever reason, a lot of my riding is east/west or west/east so I use the time zones to my advantage. When traveling west, I can gain an hour every day or 2 and I take full advantage of it. On the days heading back east when I know I'm going to lose that hour, I normally take off a little earlier to compensate for it. 4) While I like to stay off interstates, I usually still end up on roads that will allow 50-55mph speed limits (and I may go a bit faster at times, but nothing crazy) with not too many small towns to slow me down. As I get further west, the towns are spread apart more so that's normally not an issue. With all that being said, I "typically" like to be off the bike by 4:00-5:00pm. That doesn't always happen but I do VERY little riding at night. After that many hours/miles, I know my reflexes aren't as good that late in the day and obviously visibility is also a concern at night. Hope that helps provide a bit of insight.
@marclawrence20095 жыл бұрын
@@2WR Thanks for the response. To be honest i have been riding longer that you have been living lol. We also start around 7 and dont stop too often but covering 500+ miles by 4-5 is almost impossible at 55mph. I do thank you for the answer and will continue watching your videos. Keep up the great work and ride safe!!!!!
