In the previous video, I shared the first part of the trip in the Valle de Aran (below you will find the link to that video).
In this second stage of the trip, we were heading towards Pirineo Aragonés. We left the Pador de Arties at mid-morning. That day we would sleep at the Parador de Bielsa. There we would spend another two nights. The weather was great!
As we had already been to the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido, this time we wanted to go to see the Ibón de Plan. Before, we would stop in Ainsa, one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, to walk through its old streets and eat in one of the gluten-free restaurants in Ainsa that we had found. There I would eat something I had never tasted before: cow tongue! It was delicious!
Back in the car, Isa looked for options to get to Ibón de Plan. There were two:
- Option 1: park in Saravillo and walk up (3-3,5h).
- Option 2: find the Ibón de Plan route from Saravillo by car (40min walk).
We chose the second option! The road up was in good condition, but it is advisable to do it with all-wheel drive. Depending on the season, you can find parts of the road broken or muddy.
Arriving at the top, we parked next to the refuge and started walking. It was a short hike. We almost missed the Ibon de Plan because of a big puddle... what a confusion!
We went back to the Parador de Bielsa to get our gluten-free dinner. Eating at Paradores is always great. And they know perfectly well how to prepare gluten-free food avoiding cross-contamination.
The next day it was raining heavily. This messed up our plan a bit. We looked for gluten-free restaurants in Bielsa and there were not many. We looked for gluten-free restaurants in Plan and there was one that looked good, so we went to try it! The road up there was very enjoyable and gave us great views of the valley.
In the afternoon, the weather had improved. We took the opportunity to go up to the Llanos de la Larri, just above the Parador de Bielsa.
At the top it started snowing... as the weather was getting worse, we went down before we got caught in the storm.
We had dinner again at the Parador de Bielsa and, the next day, we left for the third stage of the trip: Huesca!

ATTENTION! Please note that in this vlog I share my trips, anecdotes and experiences about traveling gluten-free around the world. It is possible that, in some of my trips, I will go to a restaurant that is not certified as "gluten-free" where there is a risk of being contaminated with gluten. Please note that these references may change over time. Please always make sure before eating at the restaurants I share. Thank you very much!
