Another video and yet another W-route, this time moving from North London to the east, we have a rare occurrence on the W-route that winds the roads of Wanstead & Woodford. The W14.
LX59AOA was new in 2009 as part of a contingent of Enviro200s delivered new to Stagecoach London from their West Ham (WH) garage, mainly for use on routes 323, 488 & D3. Later on seeing service on route 549 when Stagecoach ran the tender for that route, and has also seen service on route W19. The loss of the D3 to Go Ahead, so the E200s shifted the short distance to Lea Interchange (LI) garage for use on the newly re-won route 276 temporarily until the arrival of the Volvo BZL electrics.
Our route of operation today is the W14 which runs from Leyton Mills, Asda to Woodford Bridge via Leyton, Leytonstone, Wanstead, Snaresbrook, South Woodford & Woodford. Introduced in 1989 as a minibus route, the original route ran from Leytonstone to Claybury Hospital, was cut back to Woodford Bridge in 1996, extended first to Leyton Town Hall in 2000, before arriving at Leyton Asda in 2005. The W14 had previously been run by Eastern National, County Bus, Arriva, First London & Tower Transit.
