John Gamlin, your engine maintenance tips are simple and well presented, you also have very well developed veins in your arms from working hard.

Very informative Video Series. In this one you should remind people to open the raw water intake valve after inspecting the strainer. An easy way to cook the motor 😟

What spares should you carry for a lagoon and engines Are there any special tools that you should also carry.
@TMGYachts3 жыл бұрын
Great question, all is answered in this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e17aqoaBp8abpLs there is nothing specific for Lagoons as long as you have all the correct parts.

What about a deseil that runs a generator that either charges batteries or runs a electric propulsion system? Can an engine also have an air cooling option?
@TMGYachts27 күн бұрын
Maintenance for diesel engines is generally consistent, whether they're used for propulsion or powering a generator. The addition of a generator to charge batteries or support electric propulsion can provide flexibility in power management. Air cooling options are also available in some diesel engine setups, offering an alternative to traditional water-cooled systems.

Would have been good to discuss checking the fuel filters for water etc.

That's a good looking engine. I know little, but seems superior to Volvo Marine engines based on my limited research to date

This is Awsome information to learn. Thank you. Do you feel the Yanmar engine is a low mantenance engine? How would you rate it amoung the top 3 for reiliability? Thank you for your help? Looking to buy a yacht for the Loop next year.

How exciting that you are planning this adventure. Yanmar is a well respected, good quality and reliable engine, clients seem to be very happy with them. If you do wish to get in touch about how we can help facilitate your upcoming journey contact us at tmg@tmgyachts.com.

Good Vid -- but clearly there are different approaches to WOBBLE. IWOBBLEI == where I=isolate -- turn of the engine batteries and remove the starter key AND obviously the 2nd I is turning the batteries on again. All checks also apply to the Genset. W does = water -- but unless the strainer is above the water line - you have to close the stop cock. ALSO - you need to check there is no plastic stuck on the outside of the through hull. AND an impeller removal tool is the best tool to remove impellers. Check the position of all sea cocks. L=Levels -- Battery levels, Fuel, oils (each oil), water, antifreeze, header tanks etc. NOT Leaks. Also check the propane bottle store and the level of gas. O=Observe - look around each technical area, look to check there are no loose connections, look for any residues etc. ALSO look to see if there is water in the Racor (primary fuel filter) B - Bilges (not battery) Belts - no more or less than a 1/4 turn S = is part of E engine. Re adding a 2nd S. If it is your boat you should keep a proper list of the parts you have on the boat and where they are. AND have reordering levels - each time you use a part this needs logging as does the amount of each fluid you add each time you do. So you can monitor the amounts "used"/lost.

Absolutely! Each boat and is systems will differ from one to the next so it is important to tailor your inspections and parts list. Thanks for your comment :)
