Thank you seaperch.org!!! After seeing the high end models I just had to make one myself. Still needs a bit improvement (floaties for the tether and stronger blades), but other than that it works great! Enjoy!

I’m curious about the specs for your thruster housings - what diameter are they? What did you build them out of and how did you attach them to the rest of the frame? Great looking ROV!

Hi Dan, well my initial propellers were 55 mm; so I got myself some 63 mm diameter pvc-pipes. I cut them to the desired length, coated them with 2 layers of color foil and then drilled 4 holes as engnine mounts (4 screws) and another 2 holes in the middle to attach the "pipe-holder", or "pipe-mount". That's the medal part that holds the thruster housings to the frame of the ROV. And in order to keep both the vibrations at bay and to get a snug fit I used small rubber washers between the housing and the mount. That also ensures that the color foil does not get too much friction and as a bonus I can still adjust the position of the thrusters if necessary. Pretty simple actually. You can get a better look at those in my second video. :-) Hope this helps! Thanx for watching!

Great video. Looking forward to more vids. Can you provide information on what was used to make the thruster/pump housings?

CkTBrD Well for the thruster housings I used 35 mm film canisters and filled them with wax, as you can see around 0:45 Or do you mean the thruster drums around the engines?

Thomas Ammann correct the thruster drums around around the motors.

CkTBrD ah ok. Well I think you are the third person asking so maybe I should make a short video on those. 🙂

Where did you purchase your propellers

I got mine on eBay: Graupner 451.9 - Race M4, rechts 62.5 mm. You should also get them on Amazon; at least from time to time...

@@romellyarde907 1000 gallon pumps? Not bad... that’s like 5 Amps each... that thing will take off like a rocket! Way cool; please upload some footage, when you have it up and running! I just used 350 gph pumps, to keep things at a low current.

@@agermangineer here so far I am only seeing 500, 800 and 1000 gpm. And this is Barbados loool so options and speed is a challenge

@@romellyarde907 true... here in Germany I also had to wait quite a while for the 350 ones, because the stronger ones are much easier to get. All of them are fine, but the stronger they get, the more strain you get on your power source and you need much thicker cables for your tether...

A DIY build video with your upgrades and current wisdom would be a huge hit and I would start building it today! You could do it using current parts. :-)

Looking at your frame it appears you made some modifications to the original Sea Perch design. I’m wondering if you would mind sharing the specifics of those modifications and your reasoning for doing so.
@agermangineer
@agermangineer 5 жыл бұрын
nicholas hudson-swogger Speaking of modifications: Over the last few weeks I’ve conducted some major improvements on the entire frame and design: a better tether, a much better control box and bigger propellers with bigger ‘turbine drums’- if you wanna call them that. I’ll keep your interest in mind when I make the next video. But first I need to test it and get some adequate footage. Stay put. 😬👍🏻

But just real quick, the most obvious frame modification: the buoyancy tanks. Reason for attaching those instead of the whacky-noodle-foam-floaty-things is the water pressure. The foam rings are only practicable to about 6’ of water pressure. After that, the pressure squeezes the foam together decreasing the buoyancy and the ROV is bound to sink. The PVC-pipes are fit for 10 atmospheres (10 bar) and will maintain their purpose in any depth. 😬 Plus they increase the overall awesomeness.... 🤓😎
