Another great update on the diesel SD1 loving your channel and looking forward to more videos on this car and your other daily V8 SD1, The SD1 is such an iconic car and take my hat off to the dedication and talent you have to these cars to carry out full restorations, These cars hold happy childhood memories to me with my Dad, I’ve started gathering the parts to convert mine to a V8 trying to find info on the how to’s and info on converting from a 2600 for loom mods etc isn’t easy so will enjoy studying the engine loom mods etc keep the videos coming love it 👍

Thanks I really appreciate that! I tell you what mate tomorrow evening I’ll be taking the Gems V8 out of my VDP EFi and I’ll run through the procedure of converting a 2600/2300/2000 into a V8, it’s not really complicated but I’ll cover it, as I wanna start doing videos that have more actual mechanics going on, and now I got 3 of my projects under one roof it’ll be easy to upload regularly now, I grew up with them too, it’s nice to meet other people as passionate as I am about them

Had one that dropped the inlet valve in no3 cylinder. Blooming nightmare and could not get a No3 cylinder head anywhere. Had to scrap it in the end. Took the back wing and quarter panel off to put on a Y reg sd1 2.3.

Hi. Have U ever worked on the South African SDX rover that had the Austin Princess engine in. A 2.2 Liter that have been uprated to 2.6 Liter that was the standard South African model. The Landover R6 also came out with that engine and was mated to Santana 4 Speed box

I restored one of these around 20 years ago and mine had a choke. I think I met you a few months ago in our local b and m? I was in a silver 1996 Range Rover.

You most certainly did! Japanese import wasn’t it? You should call around sometime, be nice to have a cuppa and see each others cars

Had a jeep Cherokee with the 2.5 VM diesel.one of the heads cracked due to overheating caused by an airlock.their is a bleedpipe off the top of the engine which had scaled up and got blocked. The jeep has tha adaptor plate on the back of the engine which carried the rear crankshaft oil seal. Had a bad oil leak on the rear of the engine so gearbox out only to find adaptor plate was cracked around oil seal area so this was welded and machined. Not the easiest of engines to work on.

I often think to myself.. if these cars are sentient.. it must be horrific being in that shed surrounded by parts of other cars everywhere

I'm getting massive buffering issues. Currently, this video is almost impossible to play but when I click on any other vid in my yt feed I don't have that problem. All other random vids play fine. Just a heads up. Secretly downhearted at missing the removal of aluminium canker scene but bearing up well.

Bugger yeah you are right! I should’ve shown the blowing of the alloy debris being blown off, well in all fairness I filmed it but it’s got the compressor blowing loud, and then it has me struggling to undo the retainers for the rocker covers, thanks a lot for the feedback mate much appreciated

Try a diesel fuel additive and fuel filter.
@thatroverguy19378 ай бұрын
I’ll try that nearer the time she gets fired up, but what I’ll do when the heads are off is pull a piston and check the rings, looking at how clean the rockets are I can’t imagine the rings being particularly gunked up, could even be slight play in the turbo, but we’ll cross that bridge in the future
