still drive my 1995 1.6 16v si around daily. the timing belt guide in this video is decent but its easier to just undo the cam sprocket bolts first.

Amazingly the cam belt changing procedure was revised after it was found the plastic tensioner pulley would collapse after a belt change and retension. We still have a pair on our wall of shame . All with cracks in the plastic webbing. One man did his own and ignored our advice saying Ford did not specify it and we were loading the bill. His tensioner collapsed at 70 mph scrapping the engine......

During the 90s when this F Zetec just came out their was a major design flaw in valve guide thickness and from new when they had at least 10k on them. Warranty recall for thousands of them. The first versions suffered badly from sticking valves causing misfires. I worked in a Ford Dealer and their where Mondeos and Escorts everywhere getting recalled and brand new cylinder heads fitted. Must of cost Ford millions they started with new plugs/leads and a carbon clean liquid down the intake..smoke everywhere. Animal on fuel they where but durable engines

What is the oil for this motor ? For Mondeo 1.8 16v ( 1997 ) is good 5w-30 ?

Hi, Have Mondeo 2 litre Mk 1 DOHC year 1993,but have a problem with the drivers airbag warning lamp on when the engine is on, suspect a faulty module, but no longer available! Can anyone help me with the problem?
