Rowan Atkinson interview about Blackadder & Mr. Bean on Good Morning America 5/15/90

Good Morning America filmed right outside the Tower of London and Rowan Atkinson stopped by to talk about Blackadder which was showing, at that time, on the A&E channel, NOT on its later home, PBS. Near the end of the interview, he's asked about his "new" show and just lights up as he talks about the upcoming Mr. Bean.

He is actually really nice , I bumped into him in the local newsagents. He really does act normal. He is not snobby or arrogant like most celebrities , he is a really normal and kind guy. I have been to his house because I am friend's with his daughter , Lily. He looks after himself , no servants , no special treatment. He believes in equality. thats why I love him so much (as a friend)

he's so odd looking.. at times he can look so very very handsome, as in Blackadder, but in general he has really odd features.. in this video he did look very handsome.. but he's got a very strange and large nose and huge ears... He's really a chameleon

I didn’t find the interviewer particularly disruptive. At least she’s listening and asking relevant questions, lending the interview a conversational style. Most interviewers come with a list of prepared questions, often recycled from every other interview with the interviewee. This was a lot better than that for a short interview.

How wrong she was at the very end of the interview when she had no faith in Mr. Bean appealing to Americans. That show became universally loved and made Rowan a very very very wealthy man.
