The "hands of God" are clear at 6' and at 7'10" in. 6:41 with heavy macons. What a legend. All WB times need a gentle tail. and 19s under 7mins is the benchmark of that era.

Of course a great performance by Thomas Lange. But there also was an "ideal" tailwind on Saturday, blowing along the course with not so much waves. (In Vienna there is rather headwind than tailwind. But in either case usually it is blowing along the course, equal for all lanes). See also the still valid (presumably "for eternity", since that boat-class is no longer rowed at elite level) world best time of the GER coxed Four on the same day !
