Only recently discovered Rowland, hes amazing and soulful

I found this song on Spotify today and it stopped me in my tracks. It's holding a mirror up to my life and feelings right now, in 2023. As France burns and the world seems to be going mad, we are in the midst of some kind of golden age. Golden ages needn't be nice....

To those of you that didn't find out how amazing Roland's music was until recently; Don't fuckin fret. I been a Birthday Party fan since 84 & I didn't hear These Immortal Souls until 2 years ago. I'm soooooo Grateful that now I know! We shall all pass his legend onwards.

Lyrics are usually the last thing that concerns with music, but fair play to Roland he has turned that around with this tune. God bless him, the erudite fucker, sleep tight dood!

This is not about Rowland being The Dying Breed. This is rather about The First Encounter thing.... R.I.P. Rows. I love&miss him so, so much, as trivial as it sounds....

Doesn't sound trivial to me.

@@nikita70 : With Rowland being someone really really special to you, that makes your initial comment even less trivial. Rowland is one of a growing list of musicians I've discovered after their deaths. Facially, he always looked like a wee sprite w/ a sensitive soul in the videos I've watched. This one (and others) do show how very tall he was, though. ~ Anyone who has touched you the way Rowland has, it's never trivial, nikita70. Thank-you for sharing how special Rowland is to you. Both lovely and touching to read. Again, thank-you.

@@cindyspowart555 ❤ I've never seen someone so strong but fragile, so defiant but sublime and refined, so ghostly but cheerful in the same time...

@@TimeTraveller010 Sort of wordplay, tortuous enough? Rowland reminds me of lemurs (which are dying breed), on the other hand Rowland reminds me of aliens (what I believe isn't anything revealing). With this statement I sort of try to figuratively 'pass him' from the realm of death to 'the outer space', if it does make any sense. Also, there's some reference/hint to W.S. Burroughs' concepts involved (I can see some affinity between Burroughs' ideas and certain RSH's lyrics, i.e. this one here), but that's yet another kettle of the fish. (Sorry for my English being awkward/disabled, I wish I could be more articulate.)

What's awful is the regrets Roland must have had for living an unproductive heroin lifestyle for so long.Yet with out that pain his last two albums wouldn't be so good.Thank god I got rid of my hep c before it fucked my liver.
