A child prodigy who paved the way for today's women in rap, I am more than happy to see her get her flowers while still alive, more than deserved, considering how (like with a lot of child stars) they stole what she made from all this effort.

sorry to burst your bubble but rappers today dont even grab guns anymore . not these days eventhough rap today lame asf but that gun shit to settle a beef that was in the 90s hunn . i mean dont get me wrong NOT ALL THE TIME they grabbed guns but think about east coast vs west coast lol 90s rappers was out of control . thats why i dont get why people that lived that era which was born in the 70s say "yall generation crazy" if u think about it they were more crazier or its about 50/50 & also think about when foxy was beefing wit every rap girl in the game & all of them were either fighting in hotel lobbies & elevators

C5rrr this was the 2nd version though because utfo sued for the use of their beat being used to diss them. So roxanne had to do it again on another beat. Utfo bringing out their lawyers instead of a track back 💀

I'll never forget the first time I heard this. I was 14 and my brother was 12 in 1984 and it was on Power 99 FM on the Lady B's show in Philadelphia on Sunday (Metal was on Saturday night on 94.1 on WYSP). She played all the old school rap we all know and love on her show. My brother still has the tape when this premiered. Just didn't hear rap or metal everyday on the radio like now. I'm glad that I grew up in the 1980s. Good times, good times.

Wow!! This brings back such great memories of being a teenager. We were all so natural then. From the way we looked & dressed. Nothing fake!!! No auto tunes. The natural flow of rap, unfiltered. So thankful to grow up at that time. It was very special. Breakdancing & battling through words & dance. No social media, word of mouth & real talent!!!

Roxanne Shante that was my girl back in the day. She was like 12 or 13 yeas old; I was definitely feeling her as we were around the same age. That was a time when there was no cable at least not in my house, I was watching her video on a crappy old school TV with an aerial, picture was all fuzzy I could hardly see her face but even with the fuzziness I could tell she was kinda cute.
