I do want to see him. If Sora goes the villain path, I think it'll be Roxas who redeems him, not Riku, because Sora's evil/darkness would be different from Riku's, as it is caused more by the world around him, rather than his own choices. We must remember what Roxas tried to do after losing Xion. He tried to take Kingdom Hearts for himself. He could understand Sora's twilight better.

Roxas and Xion have always been my favourite characters from the KH story, despite really relating to Sora wanting to find his friends again (I've lost many to circumstances I could do nothing about). Their identity crisis within themselves of who they are and what they stood for, and who they could turn to if things heated up, always resonated within; not knowing whether someone is to be trusted or a friend becoming an enemy of sorts, not due to wanting to be enemies but due to cruel circumstances making it so. And Xion being the character who was otherwise destined to be forgotten, no matter the effort, is probably something many can relate to; no matter what you would and could do for oneself and others, sometimes the environments are made so you're easier to forget, cruel but true. Roxas, being conflicted of wanting to be his own, wanting his friends to be their own, but realizing that it was all meaningless - it is such a disheartening and despairing revelation. But something made Roxas go on still and that part I loved so much as little and still do. The level of depth it shows, how much taking just one heart in seeking shelter can do to a character and alter the entire events unfolding afterwards, emphasizes the importance of the innocuous butterfly effect; that one act of kindness can form many friendships later on.

So a key difference I picked up over the years between roxas and sora is. Roxas lacks sora's unwavering kindness however roxas has sora's courage. A good example of this is in DDD when roxas is talking to sora. It is implied that if sora had lost Roxas wouldn't have tried to get sora a body because Roxas would have viewed that he deserved to exist and sora didn't. It is because of sora's kindness that sora wanted to give roxas's life back to him and viewed him as his own person.

I wouldn't say he lacks it, but he learns to grow to be more kind. If he wasn't I don't think he would have given up his right as a whole. It may take awhile but Roxas technically was only about a year old at that point with the little knowledge of how a heart works. It was most likely still growing and didn't stop until that scene in Kingdom Hearts 3.

@@KingdomCakes well, I think roxas gave up his right as a whole because he had accepted that was his fate. Wasn't exactly due to kindness. It was just "he beat me. Now I'm stuck here and there's nothing I can do. Might as well accept it." Like roxas has his own kindness. But it isn't to the extent sora does where sora will even just trust random people and befriend them right away

It is stated in some report, that Xemnas's artficial Kingdom Hearts saw Roxas and Xion as some sort of parents, being willing to power them, should they simply ask. A thought occurs while watching this that it would be hilarious to see the next struggle tournament. You have all these normal kids (and Setzer) fighting with their toy foam swords, and then RAX show up with their crazy magic and techniques obliterating the competition.

I'll say you brought up some nice points with the Disney Worlds in KH2 and them tying back to Roxas. For a while now, I've considered the use of the Disney worlds in KH2 to be among the weakest in the series with little they connected to the main story (with the exception of Beast's Castles).

Most of the worlds play into Roxas's lore with a hint of reunion, a subtle hint to Roxas's return to Sora. Mushu and Simba, being summons, know the gang, the old worlds where they meet again. It's subtle but plays deeper than one might think.

I feel like ignoring Re:Coded was a massive mistake. Sure Roxas isn’t in much of Re:Coded, but his appearance does speak volumes about his character. Data Roxas battles Data Sora to ensure that the actual Sora could bear the pain the people residing in his heart felt, one of whom being him. Furthermore, Roxas’ hurt is a direct result of Sora’s actions. Had Sora not sacrificed himself to save Kairi, Roxas would’ve never existed and he’d never had to experience the pain of losing Xion and Axel as well as all the insanity that happened during the KH2 prologue. In a way, it’s a test to see if Sora can deal with what *he* put Roxas through, unintentionally or otherwise. This also recontextualizes the scene from DDD where Roxas lets Sora feel his pain, since Data Sora passed the test and proved he could handle it.

I'll be honest, the reason I skipped it was cause of the fact that I seen the data characters as different people rather than representations of the real people they're based on. The whole plan was to go over every important data character in it's own Re:coded character analysis. Most likely whenever I finish a Riku video, since Riku, Sora and Roxas are the three most important for that story for the reason you brought up just for Data Roxas alone. And in the end compare the game to the movie counter part.

A big downfall of the series is the inevitable tying back to Sora. I always hope the Seasalt family (Isa, Lea, Roxas, and Xion) will be able to move forward with their own stories without having to rely on Sora's connections.

10:47 kinda right. He takes on some of Ven’s appearance( mainly his hair) but roxas’s face and body is meant to look like sora. ( hence what the games tend to show us multiple times). He is , like you said, to be kinda a shadow to sora. He simply takes “some” of Ven’s appearance and ability to also use the Keyblade ( probably why he can have two Keyblades) I love the video overall. ( Roxas is definitely my favorite character of the series)

@@chicanalex4529 I have to look it up again about the using the keyblade but Roxas is able to for being Sora's nobody and is able to use two because of Ven, but the power was awakened when he lost Xion. If I remember right there was an old interview where Nomura said something about the hearts a person has? Or the connections. But A) Nomura lies in his interviews so the reveal can trip us up all the time and B) I haven't looked at that in so long I don't remember the whole details so take it with a grain of salt, especially with point B. Though I wish I could see the difference. Because I can't...Even though their hair is a different color I wouldn't be able to tell. I can tell when Xion is being seen as Sora in the movie though because I played too much of KH1 😂

We know that it’s Sora because she would have no way of knowing what Ven looks like, or where he is( because of Aqua and all that stuff 😅) but yeah, when Xion did that sora face thing at the end it scared the crap out of me ngl 😂

The whole thing in the story was namine starting a restoration process to fuse sora and roxas back to together Roxas in no way wanted to be joined with sora, legit tried fighting and resisting but to no avoid as the guy was a hologram stalling him to finish the process Roxas failed at protecting his own life resulting in namine finishing the process and ending his life Roxas even lamented having lost his summer vacation But ig he wantes to die despite all scenes in the game saying otherwise They had to capture him Erase his memories and lock him in a ai world because he didt wanna lose his sense of self if he was willing They would not need to keep him locked away in a simulation

Roxas is my favorite KH character and that won't change. It can't. I've already related/inserted too much of myself into his character. Admittedly, it annoys me to no end that my reasons for liking him so much are more emotional than logical. Being forced into bad situations due to genetic/familial relations (in Roxas' case, his relation to Sora), being shackled to certain roles (in my case, inheriting less-than-desirable genes thus living a subpar life with minimal upward movement); Roxas was always the victim of uncontrollable circumstances. But more importantly, beyond what in hindsight was mostly melodrama, was his story with Xion. It reminded me so much of my constant worries for my mother due to her declining health. Xion didn't need to exist and was more of a handful, but she was still loved and thats what mattered most. My mother was a handful to look after and (still) shows no signs of improving, but she's still loved and that's what matters most. Roxas' worries seemed quite similar to my own.

Honestly I wouldn't say that Roxas is stronger than Sora, especially towards the end of KH2. As confirmed by Riku, Roxas would lose to Xemmas if he tried to attack or free Kingdom Hearts. Xemmas is stated to be the strongest Nobody of Org 13, with Roxas right behind him. Sora, during the final battle, defeats Xemmas solo before he absorbed the power of the broken Kingdom Hearts. He later beats him in KHDDD. And if we count Remind, he technically beats a stronger version of Xemmas. Granted, it was a data Sora, but it was based on Sora, his powers and all his abilities.

So unlike what Riku might think, he did have a chance to beat Xemnas. Riku's cynicism in the fact is biased, stemming from his desire to return him to Sora. Further proof of my statement is that echnically speaking, back at "Kingdom Hearts 1", it was Riku that turned the Door's darkness into light, as he was moved by Sora's words and Mickey's faith.

And this is Sora with one Keyblade and Roxas dual wielding. And I have no idea what you are talking about when saying "Riku turned the Door To Darkness into light." I think you massively mistaken that scene. The Door to Darkness is stated to be a smaller version of Kingdom Hearts. But it's made from the hearts of many worlds. It's made up of light, although it was also the entrance to the Realm of Darkness and In Between. Riku's contact didn't have anything to do with it. Riku, Mickey or even Aqua couldn't do nothing with it but help Sora close the door. They couldn't even walk through it.

They would need help to recover their light. You also misread what I wrote. I said, the notes explained Kingdom Hearts despised Xemnas. It would much rather power Roxas or Xion. That means the only reason it powered Xemnas in 2 was out of self-preservation, as at that point, it had a massive hole in it, meaning it was bleeding out. It was out of fear that turned Xemnas. Had it been Roxas, who also sought the power for himself at that point in time, Xemnas's pleading would have fallen in deaf ears. But I will give it to you regarding Sora beating Roxas, though with one correction. Roxas beated Sora at first. The latter won because he worked smarter instead of harder. Instead of beating Roxas through might, he used a strategy to outsmart him. Sora is not stronger than Roxas. More insightful, yes, but not stronger.

If it was possible to choose mentors for the characters in "Kingdom Hearts", I'd make Meetra Surik (KOTOR 2) his mentor. Revan would be Riku's, and Kreia would be the mentor of Naminé and Xion. They deserved better than that red mummy and those Jedi wannabe(s) antromorphic animals.

Yeah. Probably should have worded the point a little more better. Saying that he's stronger than KH1 Sora, hint at why that is and then go further into detail about why that is during the 358 portion of the video. Overall now, with how much Sora loses and learns again, he's def the strongest. Especially if we get a kit with all of his moves from every game!
