LOVE THE FAMICOM!! I have an un-modded system (retired to the display case) and a modded system (work horse). When I did the A/V mod, I also spliced in two NES controller cables from two broken NES controllers. Great having the extra length. Only downside is no mic for controller 2 by I never use it and would have disabled it anyway to avoid audio feedback. Another great video. Love the channel.

Love the enthusiasm of this video. I've also become a fan of the Famicom. Got two AV Famicoms, one RGB modded, one with composite through the Retrotink 5x with scanlines as an alternative to the sharp look 🙂👌

@@RoXolid it's definitely worth it is you get another chance. Speaking of controllers I'm quite enjoying the dogbone that comes with it, though I'd also like to try something like what you're showing there. Any idea if the 8bitdo FC are any good?

They're officially called the Twin Famicom, not Famicom Twin or Famicom Twin turbo (I understand if you have some enthusiasm or background with cars it's easy to just say twin turbo, but these consoles weren't named so by Sharp, sorry I just wanted to point out). The earlier ones didn't have turbo functions, the later ones did. While the average gamer kid in Japan like myself grew up with the standard famicom with only RF, the Twin Famicoms with composite and disk system built in were a luxury item and we were jealous of rich friends and relatives that had it. About the red Hudson controller you have there, I have the black version called Hector 87 from back in the day, it's functionally the same. Still works so I'm using it with a MiSTer. Great controller.

Awesome video. I really want to get a sharp twin famicom twin turbo. Can you get rgb out of the av port on it? If not what where you using to connect it? Was the capture through composite. I have a retro avs but always wanted a famicom and for the disc system.

I've always loved the look of that system. But admittedly play my Famicom cartridges on a Retro Freak, since importing NTSC consoles to UK needs power adaption and a 60 hz compatible screen. (for CRT use anyhow) Which is doable, just a bit of a hassle. Still, controller looks great!

@@RoXolid I have a few Famicom stock controllers here, and they all seem to have harder diagonals than my old NES controller. Since this was made by Hudson which also made many shmups, i was hoping it had easier diagonals. I think I'll check the Hori Commander HJ-10 then.

I am Year late on commenting but here I am. I just bought this controller for my famicom that I have had for 13 years now. This type of controller to me seems like it's best for space shooters like gradius 1 and 2 or run and gun type games like contra and super contra. Platforming games like kid dracula / mega man or mario style games I personally wouldn't use the turbo function for because it seems unnecessary to me.
