Remember that in one 30-minute episode, about 22 minutes running time, Roy Clark played banjo, classical violin, country fiddle, pop/country guitar and La Maleguena, considered one of the most difficult of all guitar pieces. It's hard to top that.

This performance of Roy Clark's Maleguena stayed with me for over forty years

@chowfat11... Absolutely! same here, and I challenge anyone to find a better version not only of Roy, but of any musician...save your time, you won’t.

I remember seeing Hee Haw when I was a kid and Roy Clark never played like that. It's pretty humbling, speaking as a guitar player to see somebody else playing like that. He really was a monster level genius and an accomplished artist. Rest in peace Roy Clark.

In all fairness to the other great guitar players, there specialty was electric while Roy Clark's forte was acoustic. This man was one of the best that ever lived. Let's not forget that he excelled on the violin and the banjo and I do mean excelled. BTW: he did play electric guitar also.

Have you heard how good he is on electric? Roy was almost as good on electric as he was acoustic.

Speaking as a guitar player, and as a kid who spent his teenage years in the '80s, everybody talks about Eddie Van Halen's right hand (his tremolo picking and his gargantuan attack). I thought no one was a match for that. Roy Clark is. R.I.P. and Hee Haw 4 ever!

EVH knew that Glen Campbell was close to Roy, so he asked his friend Alice Cooper to ask Glen if Roy would give him a guitar lesson . Cooper was very closwe to Glen and they golfed alot and have kids that played together and were musicians. EVH saw how Roy would shred any string instrument he picked up . Here's a young Roy doing the 12th st. Rag , watch what happens at the 02:15 mark . kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIWVgYebqbCAi5o

Wow! I never knew that. I saw this episode as a kid, and thought “holy s**t! This guy rocks!!” Then later got into Van Halen (saw them a few times live), so your comments kind of brought together two of my favorite guitarists. I also loved how the cast had so much fun dancing around the set of Felix and Oscar’s apartment-they looked like they legitimately enjoyed themselves. I think this was towards the end of the series, only 5 or so episodes left after this one. Classic!!!
