Roy Clark Reaction: Guitarist react to Glen Campbell & Roy Clark Play Ghost Riders in the Sky

Back before Eddie Van Halen became a household name he sought out Glen Campbell because Campbell had been a member of world renowned studio group The Wrecking Crew. Chet Atkins was another of Eddie’s idols. He met him once unaware Atkins was in the studio and despite having a supersized ego at the time, Atkins said to Eddie,”It’s Chet Eddie.” Eddie said,”Yes, Mr. Atkins.”

This is from Hee Haw which Roy Clark was the host of, ran from the late 60's until around 1990. It was a country music variety show, lot of great country music artists. Both Roy Clark and Glen Campbell are masters of guitar. Great reaction

I love Glen Campbell, and something I find interesting is that every video I see on him, he’s playing a different brand of guitar. Fender, Danelectro, Gibson, Ovation.. whatever. He doesn’t seem to have a preference, but he always sounds great

He was most famous for his Ovation "Bluebirds" that were hand crafted just for him in the late seventies in both 12 and 6-string versions.

@@Brirend I own a Glen Campbell Signature Series Ovation acoustic 6-string guitar. His signature is in gold etched along the tuning keys. Beautiful tone and dynamic sound! It does take some getting used to holding it, because the back is so slippery. The guitar came with a custom hardshell case. I love guitars! My dream guitar is a handmade Gibson acoustic like ELVIS played; also Emmylou Harris uses hers when she plays live.

The 12-string was being played by Glen Campbell. This type of music was called "Country-Western" back in the day when I was growing up.

Honestly, I don’t if anyone could shred a 12 string like Glen Campbell…, he was a true master of it. He made an entire album with a 12 string. BTW, the old man that introduced them was Grandpa Jones. I went to his Birthday Party in Oct 77, I was 14. Pretty met all of the Hee Haw gang! Hee Haw was the show that was recoded on.

So true! The 12 string just adds an entirely different level of difficulty. But then again, Roy (and Glenn) could play my shoe strings and make it sound good lol.
