I feel incredibly sad thinking that TBT possibly didn't make it 😢 His parents abandoned him and he hung around long after the others had fledged. And even though we didn't get to see him on live cam, his story definitely tugged at the heart strings and made you want him to thrive ❤ Hopefully it's just a malfunction with the tag and he's living his best life

They are so sweet. And now I have to change big birds on screen to give breakfeast to one of our smallest. A wren has decided to come to my balcony again and again. He already checked the nesting aids, so maybe there is hope in spring..... He loves slurping in living mealworms, looks like he is eating spaghetti. And taking a bath, even when I first have to remove an ice-sheet from the bowl.

@@melmasi5098 I was finally hanging up some Christmas decorations and watering my flowers, when Kalle arrived (named after Kalle Wirsch, the goblin king under the ground in famous German puppet show "Augsburger Puppenkiste", because in German wren = Zaunkönig, King of the fence). Big eyes, because someone else was already snacking on nuts. Tikki, the female red squirrel. She hopped towards Kalle, looked like playing peekaboo, but then turned back to walnuts and hazelnuts, sitting and eating there peacefully for almost an hour whereas Kalle scampered around. No bath today, because Tikki was sitting close to the water bowl. Maybe later this day.

Welcome back RLK! Beautiful skycall from these cuties 🥰🥰🥰. That’s great news about the 2018 cam chick returning! 😊🎉🥳, that is sad though about TBT’s tracker, I hope it was just a tag malfunction! I remember TBT and needing to be taken care of, but the parents really abandoned him? Or was it because one parent didn’t return and the other had to eventually leave? You celebrate RLK’s homecoming Every time. Why? Does he leave for a long time? How does his mate eat while he’s gone? Does she leave her eggs to hunt? This is my first year watching them. They are really fascinating to watch and such gentle beautiful creatures. I get all warm and fuzzy.❤

They wait for each other to return. They can survive two weeks on the nest without food and water, any longer and the rangers will give them some food.
