Thanks for publishing this video. I think 2 or 3 comments were really helpful and overall very educational.

Hello, Im an international medical student based in london, I would love to continue my training in the uk in histopathology, however from many sources I have heard that a lot of the slides are being outsourced, I was wondering if indeed this is a good career choice in the uk when the future seems so murky ?

Shame on u for looking easy money out of others misfortune, just stick to Indian practice. Pathologist have to perform autopsy if no autopsy then he or she is no pathologist. In india medical science is all about making money.

I am a medical graduate from india(MBBS). I wanted to know the eligibility criteria to obtain fellowship of RCP. I have visited the website of RCP, but it's not clear. After doing DNB(pathology) from india is it possible to write the FRCPath examination?

How can I make my CV competitive to secure training posts in histopathology? Are there any distance learning histopathology courses that I can do ? Can you suggest a few?

Hi Diksha, thank you for your comment. To enhance your CV, you could consider doing a taster week, which would give some experience of the day-to-day work, or attending a pathology conference or course. The information on the following website might also be useful: histopathologytraining.org/. Clinical attachments and non-training posts are not organised via the College. Doctors wishing to undertake an attachment should contact Trusts directly. You may wish to contact our International team for more information: international@rcpath.org.

Do histopathologists have to perform autopsies in their career or during their training period? Or is the job only meant for forensic pathologists?
@ilovepathology
@ilovepathology 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Diksha, All trainees appointed to a specialty training programme in histopathology must undertake 40 adult autopsies and 2 paediatric/ perinatal autopsies in the first two years of training. After that, trainees can either opt out of undertaking the higher autopsy training module in which they have to undertake at least 60 autopsies in the package (overall a minimum of 100 autopsies completed during full training programme). The majority of trainees opt out. Once qualified, some histopathologists will do hospital post-mortems. Forensic pathologists specialise in performing post mortems for medical and legal purposes, to understand the cause and manner of death . Please feel free to contact our training team if you have any related queries (training@rcpath.org).
