Neat trick with the tank. Yes, that gasket is frustrating and takes patience. The last time I did it, I did it over several days. The last day was for putting it all back together, so I had a fresh start at that gasket. Easy to damage it if you're not being patient.

as of this month I have now done this adjustment both ways my initial time saving way, and the tank off method because I wanted to polish the valve cover. If you only want to adjust your tappets then the non tank removal way will save you at least 30 minutes if not more. As far as putting the rubber gasket in it made no difference in time doing it either way, its a fiddly job at best. So if time is not an issue for you, or you want to polish your valve cover, take the tank off, what ever you do keep it fun.

I did mine by taking the tank off and lifting the abs unit then when replacing the rocker box i cleaned the gasket and rocker box then use a smear of silicone and stuck the gasket to the rocker box made it a lot easier to line the gasket up

Wow in the specs I've found it says this bike has 2 valves per cylinder but I clearly see 4! Great video tho

I found it easier to remover the tank all the way, unscrew and lift the ABS unit to create clearance for the valve cover to be completely removed. I thoroughly cleaned the valve cover and the rubber gasket so I could apply black silicon seal (same used for sealing the half moon section of the gasket) to secure the gasket in place. I allowed this to cure before installing the valve cover. In future adjustments the gasket stays in place. I only (carefully) remove the half moon section with a flat tip screw driver while gently lifting on the cover. The trick is to bring the cover towards you (half moon side) a bit then move it to the left to allow the other side to clear the cam cover and not molest the gasket against the silicon seal out of position on the opposite side. The gasket has had held it's position many times in removing the cover as I have had issues with getting the valve adjustments correct. Some how I end up too tight or too loose. I am working on it. It seems when I get the feeler gauge just right, it is the tightening of the set nut that pulls up on the tappet making the clearance out of spec. I try to compensate, then I am too tight. It is a learning process who are not full time techs. Great video though.

Nice set of 'tec' pipes you have there sir! Did you find much uplift in performance with them over stock? I am curious as, the stock downpipes are a strangle point, being a pipe within a pipe - or, so I believe. I'm my mind, it therefore follows that, by fitting a bigger bore pipe, the engine can breath easer improving performance? I'd be most interested in your thoughts, experience. Errrm, apologies if they are not tec pipes but they sure do look that way.....

Yes TEC pipes, see my other video on the install and review. Yes they perform much better, and removing 4 Catalytic converters helps too.

That's just lazy, it takes about 5 mins to remove the tank & it makes the job a lot easier. Remove the rocker cover completely & glue the gasket to the cover with some grease.
