Going to my RR soon, previous asst with oil change for another bike recently, the whole fill the oil filter is over thinking & could cause overfill at end of visual inspection of oil glass. Do what he did in video & with most bikes unless manual requires it, which it doesn't.

Simple bike to change oil on .filter was very tight the first time coming off. The RE filter is very good quality. But there are many other brands that can be used. Being a retired mechanic I'm always curious what the filter looks like on the first change. After pulling the pleats apart there was a few specks of silver stuff on pleats. But not enough that I would worry about. No worse than any of the other bike's I've owned . Also the valves didn't need adjustment after the first 400 miles. Which my dealer said is normal.

Had a question, proably over thinking it, as I do most maintenance myself for alot of my stuff. Oil filter remover tool. Obviously having the right tool for the right job makes a easier day. The electric tape & tool you used looked effective. What's the description of the filter tool you used to complete this video or do you recommend the oem tool? Plus thread lock for plug? Or just cause a problem next time? Thank you in advance.

Only thing different is, I used Amsoil 10w 50 synthetic.

You wanted to know in comments if others do it differently. I use the same oil you use for my RE 650 but i fill to top mark in the sight glass. I fill the oil filter halfway before installing it, but i do think your right that it’s not necessary to fill the oil filter with oil before installing.

Nicely done . I ordered my gt650 month ago still waiting on delivery . Here in india it's been pretty slow due to coronavirus. I love to do my own oil change on bikes when I used to live in United States (Texas). Could you please tell me the exact specification of that oil you are using ?

eBay. It seems that all the parts for this bike are located in India. Shipping was pretty quick and install was pretty simple. Getting the spring on is the hardest part but made very easy by a ratchet strap.
