I could watch an hour long video of this. The sound is just beautiful. I don’t care what people say about diesel, I just can’t get enough of it. It suits me and that’s what matters. Keep that machine alive bro 👍

even @ 120KPH thats still quick for a single cylinder diesel,I heard good things about the ruggerini & seeing you get it to that speed confirms it. Great machine,may you have many, many years of great riding.

myfabian94, Your quite right, my apologies, what diesels lack in performance they make up for in reliability (no plugs etc to go wrong) and frugality (lots of mpg's) swings and roundabouts. In the end bikes are bikes thats why we love them. Ride Safe Dave

myfabian94, You are quite correct, my apologies. Diesels have reliability and frugality rather than higher speeds and quieter running, swings and roundabouts. What frame is this built around? Ride Safe. Dave

I was very impressed by the speeds until I realised id was KPH NOT MPH! (I am in the UK) Smooths out nicely the faster you go, Sounds like a motor full of loose bits at tick over

120 is respectable on a naked classic bike.
@davidcowton10708 жыл бұрын
Not THAT good for a 650cc twin, think of A10, Bonnies, Nortons, Interceptors etc etc.Which could all cruise at 75 MPH all day 120 KPH = 74MPH

David Cowton It's a single, and I shouldn't have started arguing about Performance in a Diesel Bike.
@hiyadroogs6 жыл бұрын
The capacity is irrelevant. It's the horsepower that dictates the speed. A 650 diesel twin produces about 15-18 bhp, as the engine is incapable of exceeding 3500 rpm, & peak torque is at 2600. So the speed IS good for the meagre power produced. Remember that the bikes you mentioned were all capable of 7000 & some 40 bhp.
@hiyadroogs6 жыл бұрын
+M773 Yes, but a 600 petrol single also needs to rev to 6500 rpm to produce that power. Nothing wrong in that if power from a small capacity engine is what the designer wants, but it is as an illogical comparison as saying that a XR600 can only get 55-60 mpg compared to the 150 mpg plus of this diesel twin. This 650 diesel, while far slower than a XR600 petrol single, can easily exceed the economy of a 125 petrol single. Economy & thermal efficiency were the design intention of Rudolph Diesel's invention. The diesel engine was never intended to compete with the power output from an equivalent capacity petrol engine. Power, is a product of torque & revs. So any engine, petrol or diesel that is rev limited to 3500, is never going to produce the same power as a 6500 rpm engine of similar capacity without a turbocharger.

nice...these engines are probably the only ones even remotely suitable for motorcycles...they have at least some power, don't weigh a ton and (hopefully) don't shake your teeth off...I've been very interested on diesel bikes, but 110-250cc gasoline bikes can realistically get 2l/100km (118mpg) and they are light, cheap 'n cheerful. but...this bike could possibly do 1.6l/100km (150mpg), as has been demonstrated www.dieselbike.net/Reinhardsride1/Reinhardsride1.html...but this dutch recumbent cyclist Allert Jacobs did 1.1l/100km (214mpg) with a fully streamlined 125cc Honda Innova www.velomobiel.nl/allert/Recumbent%20motorbike.htm
