brill vid! I sold my 2018 R1200GS 'Rallye' (got bored with it tbh) and ordered a 2021 Himalayan in march 2021 without a test drive due to covid, i got it on the 10th June and have covered 1000 mls on it, Is it good? BRILLIANT! It has no top end ( knew that before i bought it) but so much character, soul and feel. The more you ride them the more they get under your skin and the more you love them, I have no regrets after 32 yrs of riding 1000+ and giving them up...this bike is something else!. Mine was ordered with the aluminium side panniers, Give engine bars, Oxford heated grips and hand guards for a total price of about £5300, the price of a second hand standard 'top brand'...I cant put into words how this bike has taken my heart over, I cant wait until covid restrictions are over and i can have a spin to Spain again, but no motorways this time all 'B' road fun and scenery :D

Thanks for the comment. You've basically summed up my touring dream too. I'm concerned that with the established manufacturers you're buying that 99th percentile of performance, unnecessary gadgetry and badge snobbery. There's something about Royal Enfield the way you just amble through the countryside at a relaxed pace with all the performance and tech you need. Its the same on the Meteor and Interceptor too, great bikes. Congratulations on your Himalayan, as you can tell i think its a great choice. Love the spec and colour you picked too. Thanks!

@@MindfulMotorcyclist The Himalayan is my second bike bought for long trips crossing Germany on small roads with luggage. If have add a better seat Hepco&Becker paniers, hand guards, a bigger plate at the luggage rack, givi crash guards for the engine and 2 ram mounts, one with a TomTom rider 500. Do you think you made the right choice with the meteor after riding the himalayan?..
@MindfulMotorcyclist3 жыл бұрын
I think so, I LOVE the Meteor, it brings a lot of joy. I come home after riding it and I am just smiling. I think the Himalayan is more useful in that its bigger, can carry more luggage, a pillion easier, less chrome to look after, but emotionally the Meteor wins!

Interested to see the 650cc one out soon! Maybe get one next year. P.s Not to keen on the windshield n hope they do the 650 with a bigger tank. Am guessing the gps things needs a phone with data on?
@MindfulMotorcyclist3 жыл бұрын
They are apparently releasing a host of new bikes, including some 650cc versions of the existing models. The windshield looks OK in real life, I would guess you're not going to be going fast enough for wind to really be a problem. Yes the tripper needs google maps on a phone..

Great review. 👍How did you find the overall smoothness of the bike compared to the Meteor ?
@MindfulMotorcyclist3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment David. Regarding the engine vibration I found it very smooth and not much difference between the two. One would expect the Meteor to be smoother as it has that balancer shaft which the Himalayan does not. With respect to riding the bike I think the Meteor was a little less jerky when accelerating/pulling away. Not much difference however.

Hi Hans, thanks for your comment and the support. I haven't done a trip to see how far you can get....yet. I will start measuring the fuel added to the tank and miles covered as this is the most accurate way to measure MPG. Also I should mention I have the Meteor and not the Himmy but perhaps the result will be similar [349cc vs 411cc]! Thanks
