I like your philosophy on this bike. I have its twin brother, had it for two years now, all I did was install a Two into one decatted exhaust (TEC), aftermarket air filter and custom snorkel, and I did one other controversial thing. I dropped the countershaft sprocket one tooth. Now the bike is an ideal two lane road tracker. 0-100(where all the fun is on a bike like this) screamer. top speed is virtually the same, but I rarely take it over 140 anyway. It's kind of like n Austin Healy sprite, sounds fast (but isn't), fun to shift, ride it wide open without going too fast. A real hoot on secondary roads,

I have done similar to my 2020 Glitter & Dust Interceptor , started with DNA filter then a Booster Plug and S&S slip on pipes (a bit more BARK ) as for the side covers I bought the aluminium ones from Baak (A French Co) and polished them up to a nice finish , like you I backed them with a fine mesh which I painted red to match the tank badge , I'll be interested to see how much further you go . Ride safe and keep the rubber side down !
@stevesteve19652 жыл бұрын
Really enjoyed that. What frustrates me with these critics is they have completely missed the whole point of Triumph (Bonneville range) and Enfields (650 range) is that they have decided to make a basic package to present to the buying public in various different engine and trim levels/styles. So if you just want a basic bike at that price 'We can provide that for you sir/madam' however knowing what some sections of the motorcycle community are like they can provide a bike that is a starting point for you to upgrade /modify at your leisure. That's the whole point of the range of bikes! It's for you to fiddle with and it's OK if you don't want to. Really looking forward to this build series 👍
@mattmoto6502 жыл бұрын
Niccccce! Loving the panels you made. I've got multiple plans for my 650. So far I've changed exhausts from Tec and recently the standard rear light cluster for the Baak set, but for just putting the new light closer on it has more than doubled my insurance!! So I might need to spread these mods out. Keep them coming 🙌

This bikes are begging to be modded once you take them from the dealership! Great job with the side panels. I went with new ones on leather, but I might just go back to the stock ones and do something similar. I have fitted the DNA filter and new pipes on mine aswell. The brakes and suspension on this bike really benefits from the weight loss. Check Hitchcock's offerings on parts to get the best of this bike, loving this series!
@brianperry2 жыл бұрын
I believe that any 'mod' that lets the engine breath easier is a good idea.( I swopped out the original air filter on my Street triple, Plus a new slip on exhaust)... this let the lungs of the engine work more efficiently and gave a smoother throttle response. Items like bars, levers, seat etc! are the comfort zone. Tyres and better quality suspension improve the ride not to mention the handling.... You're right, its your Bike, your money so personalising it to your requirements is your decision... personally I would turn it into a 60s Cafe Racer, Or would if I still had a 1960s body to contort myself into the proper riding position...Its a personal choice so go for it!! Will follow with interest future videos on the project..

Love the vid, great job, I'm the same as you I'm just looking to make my 650 run as efficient at possible, not really increase HP. Great installation. Don't you need to oil it with hydrophobic oil though? That's what the instructions with my one said. It would be interesting to see how much more it weighs than the original. As for no expected performance increases and being entirely hidden, i'd say that was 85 quid (plus the oil?) well spent! At least you fitted your one. I wait with interest to see what rim and tyre you fit and how it all works with the swing arm, frame and chain. Good luck, old bean!
