Improving compression ratio is a good thing. It provides for extracting more torque and power from the same engine and allows for better fuel economy. Yes I know there are chances of knocking, but i am pretty sure RE has used a newer piston design and newer piston rings to manage all that heat. Do note that the Splendors and the Activas(upto 5g) used a compression ratio of about 9.5:1 and are air-cooled engines and have never really suffered from knocking problems. The newer BS-VI Honda Shine and Hero Glamour uses a compression ratio of 9.9-10.1:1 and doesn't suffer from knocking. So it shouldn't be much of a concern.
@aviator99853 жыл бұрын
The knocking is due to feedback from the wheels that have a forward inertia. Especially, when the engine is not available to produce enough torque in a particular gear range. A heavy flywheel with backlash damper and a lightweight chassis frame is the way to go. 1. Kick start 2. Gloves box 3. Reduce overall length 4. Lightweight wheels 5. Aluminium swing arm 6. Reduce front end weight 7. Increase clearance between engine and fuel tank. 8. The KLR650, is a good bike, but it's difficult to lift when it's on the ground. So, adventure motoring prefer 400 to 600cc motorcycles that are easy to manage with out help.
@spiritofearth3 жыл бұрын
For any engine if metallurgy quality is good and other provisions for vibration dissipation are made better compression ratio means more power per litre. Better atomisation will lead to better combustion and less emissions.

I just got the new classic 350 in black color like the one at 2:02 and my god, it is a night and day difference compared to the old UCE engine because I also had a thunderbird 350x which is sold now. Almost japanese level smoothness and first service isn't even done yet. I will complete atleast 3000kms on mineral oil and then use motul's 300v 15w50 oil because it takes only 1.7 litres of oil so no major cost even if I use such a premium quality oil. And then hopefully the faint buzz on the handlebar and pegs will also vanish.

Wonderful idea but it would take away from what RE aesthetics and engineering. You're asking them to make engines like other brands. Rather, we should've gotten this new "J" series engine years back. RE is just too slow with rolling these new innovations. I would prefer a slow, comfortable, good looking and reliable RE over a half assed machine they once created and never improved upon.

I think 350cc engine should produce almost 30 to 32 bhp
@RealHello Жыл бұрын
Thats where the "Made to last" slogan comes from. Restricting the power output below the maximum capability of an engine will only do good when it comes to durability. There are 150cc engines putting out 20hp, and after some 30K kilometres they are no good than a sluggish-moving bicycle. Making the engine not run to its maximum makes it more reliable when it comes to longitivity.

@@RealHelloroyal enfield are the ones having most of engine problems as compared to other brands😂😂😂
@RealHello Жыл бұрын
@@Iam-ix4he You proly dont get what is been said. Engine problems? Lmao! Know what is called an engine problem? Engine problem is when the permanant parts of the engine like engine cylinders and pistons wear out to a point where it got no further repair. Royal Enfields dont get this. They are square engines which dont put a lot of pressure on them. RE's were primarily designed to be durable workhorses. They dont produce much power in contrast to their engine capacity, but they are fkin durable because of this reason. We got a 1953 bullet 350, and its in mint condition right now at our parking lot. Guess how old? 70 years? As long as a man lives, and still it got that charm to go for another 70 more years. Can any other brand do this? Get some idea on what is been said.

@@RealHello lmao i don't remember talking about them old royal enfields. I owned one back in 2018, properly serviced, no harsh riding, no rough use. Still carburetor came off 4 times during its 20000kms, the pushrods went bad had to change them + rocker arms. The engine had so many problems i spent whole 10k fixing those even when the bike was only ridden 9500kms. I still have the service records and boy the oil leaks, don't talk about them. The engine was opened twice within 15000kms. Sold it in 2021 after only 20000kms. Never considering another royal enfields
@RealHello Жыл бұрын
@@Iam-ix4he These much problems, then you are one little unluckey person. What else should I say! Okay, leave the old ones. We own a 2007 TB 350, and we didn't get any issues with it till now! That bike went to a mechanic for 2 weeks only for a minor rework. It was kept untouched for an year after the battery went down, and standing there for such a long time made its engine void of its oil. Thats the only time it went for a mechanic. The engine is simply perfect, and not even a piece from the engine is changed until now. We simply took off the decomp kit when it went to the mechanic. It doesnt have a decomp now. Thats all it has got till date. We own 3 enfields and have got no problems till date. We are into enfields for at least 25 years or so, and experienced no such problems. And you on the other side just got one and had to deal with that much of problems in a short span of time. What can I say rather than your misfortune! Dont discount it altogether just so that you got really unluckey with it. Its understandable that there may be some faulty pieces when mass-produced. What I can understand is that you had sold the bike within 3 years of purchase. Thats a very short period of time. The standard warranty is of 2 years, and a 1 year extended warranty for the engine. You also got a 3 year warranty for the RE genuine parts. Didn't you have warranty coverage rather than to shell out 10k from your own pocket? Anyways, I can understand how unluckey were you with it. Sometimes people get into trouble for no apparent reason.
