Video: The first Royal Class 325 scrap move by rail is seen passing through Shrewsbury station, with DB Cargo Class 66 (66168) dragging Royal Mail Class 325 units (325009, 325003, & 325012) from Arpley Sidings to Alexandra Dock Junction T.C. sidings next to Sims at Newport Docks. Their short final shift into the scrapyard is due on Monday (04/11/24)
There were other 325 scrap moves prior to this to EMR Glasgow and EMR Kingsbury, however these were by road.
When it comes to decarbonising/the future of rail freight, this is a real shame, similarly with the DB Class 90s that are being scrapped. The enthusiast side of me will particularly miss these as they are another Mark 3 / 319-derived (Networker cab) unit retiring.
