Letters declining,letters declining. Go take a look in some delivery units.A massive part of royal mail not hitting the delivery targets is because they are prioritising tracked parcels over letters.Every single time i let my manager know i will have a problem completing,his response is 'leave letters,make sure tracked is done.'

Are you going to get us a great deal like you did in the last strike where you turned down a better deal offered in Oct /Nov then made us go through 6 more months of financial misery to accept a worse deal at the end of the strike ! So you tell me and the rest of your members. Why should we trust you.!

The u.s.o was setup on the premise that the profitable delivery areas paid for the rural delivery areas. Privatisation of a National service has been a disaster. Declining letters and free for all parcel market doesn’t fit together. To replace our fleet of worn out vans alone will cost a fortune. Go to any rural delivery office in Royal Mail and have a look. What happened to all the money Royal Mail made in the pandemic. I was a public servant when I joined Royal Mail and proud to serve the customer. Can’t wait to retire after 40 years. Race to the bottom has started and most of us posties know it.

In a nutshell: Staff are being told to prioritise parcels over letters every day. There are not enough staff to cope with the workload.

@@hattster1818 Last years financial result showed letters significantly higher in profit than packets. It's not the money that they are worried about, it's that letters are not as simple to deal with.

At the end of the day our job is to collect , sort and deliver the items to the customer, that's the job in it's basic element, it that simple , but the job being made harder and harder since privatisation and constant change

The Union is dead and buried what union agrees to lose more than half it's evr .ite than half it's I'll health ret agrees a shocking sick deal and pays less for overtime than basic wage

I’m a HGV driver now but when I was on a walk like 15 years ago you couldn’t even leave 1 mailsort letter in your frame

Please don't make out that extra saturdays off is for the benefit of the postie. Tracked items and first class will need to be delivered by one postie covering two rounds, and in areas that don't use vans, this is no way beneficial. And then monday rolls round, double mail, D2Ds,(in double slots), mondays parcels plus the non tracked from saturday. If you think this is progress, you've been out of delivery offices for too long.

Manager asks every day to look at the app. We don't have time but they persist and force us to click on it. This is bullying once again which needs to stop.

@@quatz1981 Amen. Our Heavenly Father has been invited into the situation through prayer and all ungodly assignments are cancelled. And He said 'No Weapon formed against us shall prosper' I believe this in faith. I've seen many miracles too. Death and life are in the power of the tongue. This is why the enemy wishes for you to feel hopeless so you speak hopeless instead of speaking faith!

RIP Wally week, the only half decent part of the job. Without that and rising minimum wage, there is not much reason to stay if you can get a similar paid job mon-fri and less physical, none of us are getting any younger.

Totally agree with you. Only thing left in the job worth staying for. My local reps are fantastic and are coming up with a plan to keep the Wally week in a different format. Hope they are successful.

@@deano5666 not sure, they are pretty savvy with the duty patterns in our office. We have 2 in 6 and wallingtons and some 3 day jobs. 1 in 6 is awful, can get better days off in any job. If that happened to us I’m sure many would walk. They’ve taken everything of value from the job as it is.

@@deano5666 decent dom and decent reps make a huge difference. Most of the office have been on wallingtons for 20 plus years. I could imagine a big backlash if they tried to remove them. Been on one for 10 years myself and my whole life is planned round it.

Why are part time workers treated differently from full time workers I share a frame with full time worker he gets paid for door to doors I don’t I have to work Sundays every third week he doesn’t he gets more Saturdays off I get one in 6 weeks major divide in the sorting office and between workers we should all be even

Very true, Martin. The company has just been fined again at the cost of 10 million. Reintroducing full-time hours has all but solved the problem.

we need restructuring of union, when we deliver letters, the people in branch office they are sitting on their arse in front of computer and on phone, in divisional office also , cut their budget so they dont enjoy more, ask their performance, we pay the bills and wages for them, go home early on friday , whole weekend off, we work whole week till late in dark and cold, no weekend off for us, not fair,

Delivering letters is a very Important part of the job, that's why the company has just been fined over £10,000,000. One issue is we are told to prioritise tracked, but is this so managers can secure there bonuses? Talking of which, management bonuses in my opinion should be scrapped, as it makes managers work in their own best interests, not the companies of staff. Also it is the staff who are doing the bulk of the hard work. A maximum wage should also be implemented, as a multiple of the lowest paid worker. That way it's in a managers interest to improve staff pay. Something that would be good for all UK workers, and to help reduce the gap between the have and have nots in this country.

@georgearcher5696 As far as I'm aware (I could be wrong) but I have been informed before, that managers get bonuses based on tracked packets and *_NOT_* the mail service. I personally think any bonuses should be shared equally between everyone, not creamed off the top.

First class will become a Premium product ,we've proved you can do 2 rounds of Tracked in a normal day ,a few extra FC letters won't add much time. It's definitely the way the job is going ,more part time staff than full in many offices

You should be pushing for full time staff on the same contacts as the long term staff and achievable deliveries,not agreeing to the unachievable deliveries that have been forced in with the last revision.You just stood there with the managers and agreed to them. I thought the CWU was there to represent the workers,not fuck them over. Perhaps I'm wrong? But I doubt it !!!
