My ancestors in Bosnia historically would give salam to their loved ones not knowing if they'd come back. In those days it was almost a year one way and in addition to that the route was filled with treacherous people and enemies not to mention more. Walking and horseback in hostile lands on top of the elements must have been extremely difficult. I read one story in which a man enter debt so as to be able to make hajj in return he would work for free for 14 years to pay back his debt if he returned in 2 to 3 years.

I understand that we shouldn't be complaining about how easy we have life and Hajj compared to back in the day but as Muslims we really need to keep our most sacred places of worship clean, after all cleaniness is nifs imaan, particularly in Mina as the shayk was explaining the porta potty situation as Muslims we should leave the restroom cleaner than when we found it.
