@@JayTilleyTV I know it sounds cheesy but me and others definitely do look up to you, you're very humble, even when talking about how difficult the tests were

Fully agree mate, endurance course was the worst for me. The anxiety levels on it were through the roof, i'd had dramas on the warmup run throughs and was flapping when it came to the day of the race. You feel like you're digging out the whole time but no idea how well you're doing. Whereas all the other 3 you can gauge how you're doing throughout

Potential Q for a later video mate, What's your advice on leaving a comfortable career to 'chase the dream' of being a commando, I've wanted to do it since I was a kid, but with life responsibilities etc., it's difficult to justify leaving a job to start on a 20k salary after training, and reserves is out of the question because of where I live, just wondered if you had any insight, Thanks for the great content, good to see you back on YT 👍

9 miler for me, also a non commando test in my day was a 14 mile load carry, did it on a red hot day absolutely buggered me. We had DMS boots and green socks like sand paper, the bottom of my heals once moulded into the sock material and came off with them. To be honest it’s all hard.

Awesome stuff, all the best mate. Quick tips is keep strong in the head and let you body do the work it needs too. Probably worth checking out a couple of my other previous marine videos if you haven’t already as I go over a few pointers 👌🏼

Biggest barrier for my marines application atm is mental well-being. How important is it to be in that “right mind set” going into Lympsone?

How long would you recommend staying in the marines
@JayTilleyTV3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, I know I replied in another video to this question but might be helpful for others on this vid. I’d say this is very much a personal opinion kind of thing. Totally depends how you feel when your in, what your career ambitions are etc. I knew I was aiming more short term to really get the experience so done 4 years but some lads commit they’re whole lives to it, hit top ranks and retire a RM.

Don't you think that relying on motivation is equivalent to gambling, you have no guarantees on it remaining with you for 9 months. learning to preform without motivation... that's where its at.

Hi mate good question because I was the same, I always shot left handed but you have to learn right. It’s not too much different though, I managed to do okay and actually got awarded Marksman of the troop at the end of training

Normally yeah, just depends if you get injured or fail anything if so then it’ll be longer as you’ll get put into Hunter company (tests you get two attempts on whatever test you failed permitting you only failed one if you fail more than one you’ll be back-trooped)

Nailed it in the previous comment... Do what feels right for you. Realistically 16 in my eyes is a bit young, I joined at 18 and done fine and some join in their late 20’s. It’s so varied so see when your body and mind is ready for the challenge

what happens if i injure myself or have some difficulties while training? do we just fail or is there another way to get back to training?
@JayTilleyTV3 жыл бұрын
Good question mate. You will get backtrooped if that’s the case. You’ll pick up injuries along the way but depending on the severity you’ll either get back trooped and join another troop at the same week later down the line or get medically discharged

Yeah you’ll get issued them due to a medical issue if it’s needed but realistically for most people getting blisters and achy feet is all part of the process haha.

A bit off topic but when I finish training can I choose to join 40 commando or 43 commando or do they choose for me, also is it possible to deploy with my buddies from home if we go through training together?
@gay_commando16113 жыл бұрын
You can join with your mates but there is no garentee you will all be in the same section or all pass out together. You put preferences in where you want to go but they will send you where your needed and again there is no guarantee your mates will go to the same place as you.

@JayTilleyTV3 жыл бұрын
There is times where you might be able to but usually in training things like this won’t be used because if you have a medical issue with skin it’s risky in the field so you may get medically discharged or if it’s just for wear and tear chances are you’ll be okay in your own time.
